In Manish Malhotra

Billed as the ‘MET Gala of India’, we were fully prepared to be served some “Fashion” at the event. But between all the hits and misses of the night, Tamannaah’s look in Manish Malhotra was definitely among the Misses. I am all for taking a risk in Fashion, but the black patterned layer, the jewelry, the embellishment on the gown, the contrasting red lip, none of it worked.

If there was ever a time to try something different, this would’ve been the event to. Instead, Sara chose to do the same ‘ol same ol’ in her ornate Manish Malhotra. Color me unimpressed.

In Amit Aggarwal

Priyanka went with an Indian designer on day two of NMACC opening festivities picking an Amit Aggarwal strapless gown featuring a rangkat benarasi skirt. The gown itself was so so delish but the finishing touches were just so underwhelming. Swap the sandal for a pump, pull the hair back in a pony-tail and less glittery and this look would’ve been soo soo good.

As is, no likey. What a waste of a gorgeous gown. Le sigh.

In Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Schiaparelli

Day two of NMACC opening festivities saw Natasha in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla long kurta and structured gold sequin cape. This is where we now enter the case of “getting carried away”. In Mrs. Poonawalla’s case, her penchant to do More More More. I, though, don’t like it. Geddit, geddit?

The addition of the Schiaparelli clutch, I don’t mind but those boots had no place here. It just looked ridiculous. She wore them so well though at the label’s presentation with the silk pantsuit. See it inside.

In Elie Saab Couture

Day two festivities saw Alia in an Elie Saab gown from the 2023 Spring Couture collection. This collection had many looks that were sari-inspired so maybe it was a concious move by Rhea to not put Alia in one. I, however, wish that she had picked them. They looked exquisite. This particular gown though looked great on the runway with its sheer lining. With one, it wasn’t translating well. I also don’t like that choker.
