Sari Style

For her friend’s wedding functions, Alia sported saris, a purple one from Ekaya x Ashdeen featuring Chinoiserie motifs, a blue one from Punit Balana and an embellished ajrakh from Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal.

The Ashdeen was an instant favorite but given the strapless Chinese inspired top, I thought that choker sat way too high on her neck and the more I look at it, the odder it looked. Didn’t like the Punit as much and while the Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal was absolutely delish, would’ve preferred an ulta palla drape here.

In Anamika Khanna

It was Anamika Khanna for both the wedding and reception for Rhea and between the two, I was like the gold tissue. The wedding kurta set repurposed by Anamika from Sunita’s old kurta and dupatta is actually more pastel shade but in the photoshoot pics has almost a gold tinge. It is also why I really dislike these IG highly filtered pics. They don’t actually tell you the whole story.

Have a favorite from the two?

In Antar-Agni By Ujjwal Dubey

Rhea was seen in a custom cream kurta set from Antar Agni by Ujjwal Dubey featuring an ornate green dupatta from Pankaj S Heritage. A statement necklace from G.K. Chudiwalas, earrings from Symetree and a kangan from Vasundhra Raj finished out her look. For someone who is mostly seen in black or kaftans, this made for a nice outing.

Sari Style

Natasha attended a high-profile wedding over the weekend wearing a benarasi rangkat sari from Jigyam with a vintage cubist jacket from YSL Rive Gauche 1988 collection. The vintage sourcing should’ve tipped you off that this was styled by Rhea.

I am sure I am in the minority team that actually disliked this combination. Each of the pieces were absolutely gorgeous, especially that sari and it should’ve been the eye catching element of this outfit instead of the jacket. That is not to say the jacket isn’t interesting. It was just the wrong pairing for this sari. Also the crowding of the neckline was another turnoff. This combo of vintage western label + an Indian one wasn’t one that I thought worked.

Like what you see?

You can catch a video of her walking to the event at the 4 min mark in the video below.

In Tarun Tahiliani

Alia helped inaugurate the India Pavilion at Cannes and was seen wearing a Tarun Tahiliani draped gown with pearl jewellery from Sunita Kapoor that including a clip-on nath. Waist up she looked nice but that stitched drape around the hips looked a wee bit messy.
