Skirt Style

Post walking at the Mijwan fashion show, Alia grabbed dinner with her director and co-stars at a local restaurant wearing a vintage yellow jacket suit from Givenchy‘s 1997 collection designed by Alexander McQueen. The vintage aspect of this should be a dead giveaway that this look was styled by Rhea which also reminded me that Ms. Kapoor also styled Kareena very recently in another vintage skirt suit (this one a John Galliano from his 1999 collection.)

The skirt being a lil’ above the knee worked in Ms. Bhatt’s favor. She looked great. As for Kareena, she looked nice but the skirt needed to be a just an inche shorter.

Again and Again. And Again.

Preity was spotted again in her favorite John Galliano jacket with Louboutin pumps seen on her earlier at the IPL auction. Compared to others, it was disappointing to see her in plain ole denims, but I guess, because she also attended the day seminar for FICCI, she did not get time to change.

Jai Ho: Says Galliano!

When you think of the idiom ‘spreading like wildfire’, you never think it will EVER EVER… apply close to home.

But, guess what! The soundtrack of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ sure is spreading like wildfire! At the recent Christian Dior Spring 2009 Haute Couture show, designer John Galliano walked to the tunes of ‘Jai Ho’! (Wait till the 7:10 mark to see his entrance.)

While I would love to tell you how he did, I don’t want to kill the surprise yet! ENJOY!

Spotted Padma Lakshmi in a beautiful John Galliano dress at a pre-Emmy party and then again looking stunning in a Monique Lhuillier Spring 09 dress on the Emmy red carpet…

Limited Edition Dior ‘India’ Saddle Bag

John Galliano designed 12 limited edition Dior Saddle Bags, those inspired by Mexico, China, Russia among others! But what interests us, is of course the ‘India’ saddle bag!

The nudge at an old-world elaborate nose-ring isn’t lost on anyone and while a little garish ,and I do wonder why most Indian inspired things are, its fun!

John Galliano in honour of his 10th anniversary at the house, designed 12 saddle bags, each paying tribute to the 12 countries that have inspired him during his time with Dior! While a little loud and over the top, they are still being touted as good investment pieces!

Of course the news of these bags is trifle old but the reason I write is, I saw a lady at the Delhi airport carrying a bag that looked remarkably like the saddle but very, very Indianised and when I went up to her and asked if it was Dior, she said “Nahin ji, GK se liya hai”! (No, I got it from GK)(*GK, a marketplace in Delhi) 🙂 And ‘that’ turned to ‘this’ post!

On an aside, I just got into India! And in true High Heel spirit the first thing I did was to buy Vogue India at the airport! (Family has mentioned therapy but we are working on it!)
