In Dolce & Gabbana

Natasha attended the Bachchan and Kapoor Diwali parties wearing a Dolce & Gabbana brocade look that seemed to have drawn inspiration from Imperial Russia and China.

Natasha likes drama (sartorially) and embraces it fully. That, we appreciate. But the look was problematic. A) She chose to support a designer duo that have been openly and worryingly racist (among other things). B) She wore this to a Diwali party. Yes, technically there’s color, the fabric is luxe and she’s spent big bucks on it, so when better to grab the eyeballs?! We get it. Doesn’t mean we have to like it though.

In Falguni and Shane Peacock

Wearing pale pink lehengas from Falguni and Shane Peacock, Jacqueline and Gauri attended Diwali festivities on Sunday evening. Between the two, much preferred Gauri’s lehenga and while I liked the glittery effect, puff sleeves have always been a deal breaker for me.

Whose lehenga did you like more?

In Amit Aggarwal

Wearing a neon lehenga by Amit Aggarwal, Ananya attended the Bachchan Diwali party on Sunday. I think the lehenga itself is fun but like with anything else Ms. Panday wears, I find the look overall very filmy. In the sense, that she always looks like she is dressed up to go on set for the next scene versus actually wear the look for a real life event. Her hair and makeup also mostly feel very filmy and formulaic. I am still trying to figure out what’s her individual style.

Sari Style

Wearing saris, Taapsee and Tara attended the Bachchan diwali party with the former wearing a black one by Vvani By Vani Vats and the latter, a grey one by Manish Malhotra. I actually really liked Tara’s sari but that itty-bitty bra blouse killed the look for me. As did the makeup. As for Taapsee, props for opting for a sari, but this one wasn’t feeling very festive and I wasn’t a fan of the rows of gota.

In Sabyasachi

Katrina attended Diwali festivities wearing a red lehenga by Sabyasachi. Part of me felt that she perhaps should’ve worn a necklace (not the heavy Sabyasachi one but maybe a classic kundan necklace) but part of me also liked that she kept it simple.

Update: Now that I see that she wore different earrings, I wish she’d continued to worn those. But, it is likely, they were too heavy.
