Ai yai yai was my first reaction seeing Mrs. Poonawalla at the NMACC event. Yet again, she had on a great gown, a Sabyasachi by the way, but then went overkill in trying to make it different by adding that fur coat and that sparkly Dolce & Gabbana bag. Both of these additions just made the outfit feel disconnected.

Skip that Evil-Witch feather-ey coat, keep the necklace, swap the bag for a matching Sabya beaded one and this look would’ve been a winner.

As is, it gets a thumbs down from me. What about from you?

On an evening where most wore Sonam’s favorite Anamika, she herself unexpectedly showed up in JJ Valaya. She sure looked regal and I do love that micro bag on her. Rhea gets her accessories and proportions right when it comes to Sonam but not always on when she is styling others.

At the NMACC event, Priyanka was seen in an Elie Saab strapless gown and ruffle cape from the label’s Fall Winter 2022 Couture collection. A Saab and a couture one at that this gown may be, but wearing this particular sheer one to this event was completely inappropriate. In pics, the gown looked so tacktastic.

Given this was such a high-profile event in India, why not pick an Indian designer? Ms. Chopra favors the Peacocks, so why not wear something by them?

At the NMACC opening night event, Aishwarya was seen in a Manish Malhotra velvet voluminous sharara. I actually don’t mind the sharara and if that dupatta had been worn a bit more neatly around the arms instead of wrapped over the body, this look wouldn’t have felt like she was drowning in it. And of course, if that necklace had been swapped with a round version to match the neckline of the kurta.

P.S. The NMACC opening event was ‘The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation’ and the costume design was done by Manish Malhotra.

Wearing a black Anamika Khanna creation, Athiya stepped out for the opening night of NMACC. In any other color, I might have disliked this, but I loved it in the black and Athiya sure wore it well.
