LFW Winter Festive 2010: Malini Ramani

Closing out LFW was Malini Ramani. Like her last collection, the Gypsy collection inspired by Lakme’s winter color palette was also divided into four themes.

Mirror and shell embroidery on black and tie and dye fabric dominated the first segment, Mystery. Bliss consisted of minis, maxis covered in colorful prints that from far looked like intricate embroidery. Cosmic went more tribal in nature featuring feathers, shell and coin embellishments. The last one, Nirvana, was presented by the Lakme models Lisa, Amrit, Indrani and Shraddha who wore black and red creations that were heavy on shell, mirror and tassel work.

The designer didn’t foray far from her usual offerings of maxis, full-sleeve dresses, sarongs but the fact that Malini sticks to her signature design aesthetic without letting it go stale always stands out. Love the infusion of her inspiration (the world) into this line.

LFW Winter/Festive 2010: Neeta Lulla

For her collection, Neeta Lulla drew inspiration from the work she’s done spanning two decades. With both western-wear and Indian-wear, Neeta covered a whole gamut of silhouettes. And used in abundance were nets, pleating, crystals and a whole lot of rosettes. A whole lot of rosettes.

We’ve had enough celebrity sightings (in Ms. Lulla’s clothes) to know by now that it’s only a matter of time before we see some of these off-the-runway. Sigh.

On an aside, for your reading pleasure, a snippet from the P.R note:

The show stopper was the beauteous Bollywood star Sridevi in a sensational silver will-power fish tail gown bringing to end a fantastic show.

Shimmer-En Route-To-Shine

Three consecutive appearances and with each appearance, comfort level with shimmer seems to grow. :p What started with an embellished-one-shouldered gown at a premiere, led to a full-blown dress during FW. Now she has our curiosity piqued, what comes next?

Speaking of her most recent appearance, Tabu looked great in a one-shouldered dress while taking in Neeta Lulla’s show during LFW. We liked, did you?

Get Shorty

At the Araaish event, both these ladies chose to keep it casual and went with shorts. Question is, whose take on it did you like more? And who got the short end of the (style) stick?

Color Splash

Wearing a paint-splash one-shouldered dress, Twinkle Khanna looked lovely at the Araaish charity event today. She paired the dress perfectly with a tan Chanel bag and sandals. Love!
