In Manish Malhotra

Tamannaah was the latest to be seen in Manish Malhotra‘s sequin sari. The actor rounded out her look with a necklace, also by the designer. She looked good.

P.S: See others wear the ombré sequin sari here!

    • Hahaha! Seriously Wats with the designer reprinting same cloth in multiple shades and then also have one actress after another wear it. Also this double shaded blouse seriously looks like a bandeau bra worn over a crop.

      • Mahira Khan wore this gorgeous silk satin ombré saree a few months back and it had a blouse that was similar to this, but it was a single colour. I think the single colour made a huge difference (I agree – I find the way the colours are split here to be odd) and the blouse was also cut a little more in a sculpted way so it was both delicate and substantive (i.e., non-skimpy). These are the kinds of details that really can elevate a look.

        • I think without -being offensive, current Indian actors lack a sense of style to really know what looks good, what looks good on them and where to pull the breaks. I have loved mahira Khan in even a jeans n t for having brought originality and her style to it. Similarly with many non Indian actors. Somehow we just don’t get it right and yet go all out in trying on everything.

Those who stay true to their style and don’t succumb to the pressure generally fare better (assuming they have an inherently good sense of style). Case in point – Vidya Balan. Also, Aishwarya Rai when she doesn’t actually try.

I think in Pakistan because a lot of the dramas are so natural in terms of their aesthetic (i.e., not overly stylized), the public is used to seeing everybody in literally no makeup. So while they may dress up for awards functions, nobody seems to feel the pressure to dress up when they step out for coffee etc.

Agree re Mahira – she’s stunning even in jeans, partly because she is so comfortable with herself, whether dressed up or down.

            • That’s not true.. natural doesn’t mean drab or no style? …. they are also “on” all the time, its just their style sense/ taste is better!

            • Nope it’s not about their dramas. They put loads of make up n jewels n all that too.. but each person looks different and lovely.
I see a template dressing in Indian stars, one fits all. Maybe a few know their style, but most of all are just following some crap.

          • I have noticed Pakistani showbiz folks really value their ethinic wear. It could be simple, but looks luxe in terms of fabrics, drape-which always translates to refined elegance yet there is a simplicity around it.
Alas, Bollywood is the opposite. They have no confidence to develop their own likes and dislikes and hence they run to but the Uniform….the diwali uniform, the shadi uniform, the Ambani party uniform, the karwa chauth uniform, the I am casual cool uniform, I lost weight uniform, I have abs uniform, chiffon princess uniform, and Manish Malhotra and Sabya Uniform.

  2. I really worry about the amount of plastic in these sequin sarees. When will celebrities try to set an example of sustainable dressing? Sigh

  3. I love the saree, and this colour is great… but why is everyone is wearing the same ugly blouse with it?

Goes to show the stars simply have no imagination or individuality and simply follow the stylists’ instructions.

  4. What is this…so Manish Malhotra sends out clothes to all celebrities before festivals/big weddings for free? And is lazy enough to make 5 designs in different colors ala school dance type costumes? And the A-listers get first dibs and then the remnants are passed around Bollywood?
He should really take a break from designing for a bit.
As Princess Margaret in the Crown put it (season 4): “It might give him perspective”
