WLIFW: Rohit Bal

Rohit Bal’s latest collection was inspired by ‘Ashta Dhatu’, the eight metals. And as the ‘inspiration’ implies, there were plenty of metallic hues, gold, copper, silver, iron and lead inspired.

The silhouettes were very avant-garde, contemporary and certainly very dramatic! The interesting part of this collection was that Bal brought in some elements from his Spring/Summer Fashion Week Finale Collection ‘Siyahi’ and fused them into this one.

A Piped Piper? A Faceoff

Both Roshan and Bal chose to go with white jackets that had black piping (at two different events) and while Roshan’s was more structured, Bal’s was far more casual!

Who worked it better you think?

Rohit Bal ABN Amro Fashion Show

Could there be a tie-up involving a designer and there be no fashion show. Of course not! And so, Rohit Bal had a fashion show to showcase the new designs inspired by the designs he created for the ABN AMRO credit card. And who better to showcase these designs better than friends! I am loving the black and silver theme except on the saris. As you can see, for a big busted woman, the silver blouse ain’t flattering at all!

The Many Looks Of Rohit Bal

Of course, I am being sarcastic! Rohit seems to have decided to push the whole jodhpurs trend on to the rest of the world all by himself. So, the question is, do you want to see your man in one of these?

Rohit Bal for British Airways

British Airways recently unveiled the new cabin crew uniforms designed by Rohit Bal. The uniforms will be worn by air hostesses on flights in the South Asian routes. Besides the traditional sari, the collection has sherwanis and kurtas for the women.

I like the piped lining on the sari blouses and kurtas, but, the red, white and blue graphic print on the outfits is so boring. I wish Bal had chosen a more indian motif.

I am surprised there was nothing for the men…Do they still have to wear suits? Would have been nice to have them in Sherwanis too! 😉
