It was a two gown day for Ms. Ranaut who first walked the red carpet in a Michael Cinco gown and then changed into a Maticevski white one for the Chopard Love dinner.
After the fierce outing last year, I sure was surprised at Ms. Ranaut’s going the more traditional gown route. My issue though was with how sheer the gown was on the red carpet, more evident in this pic. It was a bit of a downer.
Much preferred her in the second look of the night even though the emerald jewellery clashed big time with the blue eyeliner.

After attending a talk at the India Pavilion, Kangana attended an after-party at Cannes wearing a Nedret Tagiroglu embellished jacket and pants look from the label’s Fall 2019 collection.
As you can see, for the photo shoot prior to the event, Ms. Ranaut wore the outfit as is but wore a strapless bustier to the actual party later. I understand wanting to show off a fiesty look but not sticking to it felt like a bit of a cop out. I would’ve been totally okay if she’d just reserved the outfit for the photo shoot and changed into something different later.

While at a event at the onging Cannes Film Festival, Kangana was photographed in a lovely silk sari by Madhurya, one that she teamed with a custom Falguni and Shane Peacock corset.
Vintage-inspired updo aside, she rounded out the look with a pair of oxblood gloves and chunky Saint Laurent sandals. I want to like this look, I really do, but those gloves and sandals ruin whatever this look had going for it. I am not sure what the thinking behind adding those gloves was, especially considering it neither was cold, nor after dark nor was it a ball or gala that she was at. Besides, it added nothing to the sari. The sandals too were a bad pick considering how heavy and clunky they looked. If the idea was to cement the old school-ness of the look, the hair and outfit were enough to bring home the point. Minus those, the sari looked great on her.
It was almost like she committed to an idea of a look and it was too late to turn back. All in all, a lost opportunity.

Kangana left for Cannes on Wednesday evening and was seen wearing a Gucci shirt and denim culottes with Saint Laurent platform sandals and an Off White bag.
Although the sandals seemed too high, she did look nice.
