It was a two gown day for Ms. Ranaut who first walked the red carpet in a Michael Cinco gown and then changed into a Maticevski white one for the Chopard Love dinner.

After the fierce outing last year, I sure was surprised at Ms. Ranaut’s going the more traditional gown route. My issue though was with how sheer the gown was on the red carpet, more evident in this pic. It was a bit of a downer.

Much preferred her in the second look of the night even though the emerald jewellery clashed big time with the blue eyeliner.

  1. The red carpet look is so… so… so… VANILLAAAAHHHH. A pretty gown with a train. It reminds me of Priyanka’s Oscar 2016 Zuhair Murad gown but with a train attached. I would have loved to see her wear a custom tuxedo on the red carpet like Evan Rachel Wood at the 2017 Golden Globes. Sigh!!! Guess I will dream on.

As far as the look for the Chopard event is concerned, it is certainly more becoming but I guess it has fit issues.

  2. The hairstyle in second look is my all time favourite when I have oiled my hair to be washed next day and and some important event/party comes up that I need to attend at the last moment and I don’t have time to wash my hair and give a blow dry

  3. That red carpet look is as lifeless as a soggy dosa. Plus there are makeup issues, her skin looks uneven with dark circles.
The dinner look on the other hand is MA MA Mia . She knows it too , you can just see it in her eyes. Stunning

  4. Along with Ms Chopra, Ms Ranaut is also having a bad run at Cannes. Waiting for at least one look from one of these Bollywoodistas that knocks it out of the park.

  5. I have a theory ! I think KR outfits are last minute compromises since she gained weight for her movie. Happens to many of us. But yes, I don’t think these were her plan A outfits.

  6. The way she becomes leaning tower of pisa in front of cameras is really funny.. I can’t imagine how funny it must look in person, also how does she not fall over? Stand up straight and give a big smile, it will elevate even this boring this look 3000x..

  7. Both the gowns have major fit issues. The first one sits oddly on the bust and the second one, just tight tight tight. That’s her stylist’s fault for not making sure they sat perfectly on her frame, but neither is flattering in the first place. The makeup is lacklustre and she’s not exuding her usual, confident, carefree Kangana vibe. This Cannes outing, nothing she’s worn so far’s really been memorable or clicked.

  8. the Chopard look… cant take my eyes off that one twig of hair floating on top…intentional? the 1st gown is just boring, at times her simple sarees that she wears to her airport outings, are more edgy and stylish.

  9. I do think this is a soft and romantic even – outing for Kangana. This has enough glam and elegance for Cannes. Its not a look at me gown, and I’m glad she isn’t doing the fierce. Loved her hair and make up as well. Most of he successful looks from Cannes – Julianne Moore, Bella Hadid, Li Yuchun and Nieves, with an exception of Rita Sririta – so far seems to be smaller silhouettes than go big or go home as is usual at the festival. This perhaps isn’t as memorable as one would like it to be but still is a good one and redemption from last year’s jumpsuit.

Love her Chopard outing as well.

  10. I really wish there were no more participants other than Aishwarya at Cannes.. this place is becoming a proving a point in your face opportunity for rest of stars. Atleast Aishwarya is least bothered about her dressing and more of the duties (movie screening)

  11. I’m really craving a shiffon saree moment at Cannes. Maharani styled saari with pearls and a beautiful cream handbag. Sonam, Aish pls.

  12. Majority of the starts from Asian side tend to fail with the dressing at cannes … they don’t know how to find a balance between drama and elegance ! Wish they took cues from Juliane moore , Elle fanning ,Penelope Cruz etc … n their make up looks flawless on Indian shores , come cannes or met, their make up is a disaster !! N that too, majority of them are representing a make up brand at that !!

  13. The fit at the bust of the Michael Cinco gown feels very off. Actually, almost all the Cannes 2019 outfits of Ms.Ranaut seems to have fit issues. I would have just been happy to see a simple sari (any of her usual airport looks) at Cannes rather than any of these ill fitting outfits.

  14. Couldn’t care less about the Michael Cinco gown. The white look is fierce and befits Kangana. Don’t mind the blue eyeliner with the green earrings at all. To quote Stacy London, “Colors don’t need to match, they need to go together” and they do.

  15. I actually love the blue and green and white color story. Yes, the red carpet look is less interesting, and that’s a pity especially given this is Ms Ranaut.

Really?! I thought they complemented each other well. Loved her in the second look , definitely her best look at Cannes. The first one is just so run of the mill.
