Are you recovered from Cannes red carpet yet? We have, even if for the most part it left us generally meh. If there was one thing that stood out to us, it was the sheer number of white-toned gowns we saw during the film festival.
White is a great pick since it tends to really pop on the red carpet, and when done well, it’s high on impact. But on the flip-side, flaws seem exaggerated too. All said and done, Diana in her Amit Aggarwal sari was our favorite for toeing the ‘sari-but-contemporary’ line well. A close second was Sonam whose tuxedo was definitely high on impact, it’s a pity then that the fit on those pants let her down (see what we said about the flaws).

It was a two gown day for Ms. Ranaut who first walked the red carpet in a Michael Cinco gown and then changed into a Maticevski white one for the Chopard Love dinner.
After the fierce outing last year, I sure was surprised at Ms. Ranaut’s going the more traditional gown route. My issue though was with how sheer the gown was on the red carpet, more evident in this pic. It was a bit of a downer.
Much preferred her in the second look of the night even though the emerald jewellery clashed big time with the blue eyeliner.
For Anushka, it was a Toni Maticevski gown, one that she wore with a sleek middle parted do and smoky eyes with a hint of silver. She sure looked good.
On an aside, event organizers perhaps should also let the stylists/celebrities know what their backdrop and carpet color will be along with the dress code. We’ve already seen issues of red against red on red and here you have this situation of black gown against black background and a black red carpet.
Promotions for VDW are in full swing for Ms. Kapoor who sported two looks on Saturday for interviews, first in a Rajesh Pratap Singh pink look and then in a blue Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga. A L’Oreal event on Friday saw her in a gold Toni Maticevski gown but while I loved the color, not a fan of that bust design.
