Of Launches: Part Deux

Among the celebrities in attendance at the store launch was Kiran, who no prizes for guessing, also picked Gaurav Gupta to wear. Wearing her separates with chunky sandals and a black Nathalie Trad clutch, she finished out the look with dangling earrings and a pink lip.

Pairing an electric blue, sleeveless top with the grey draped pants was a good move. Aside from it being a great color combination, showing her arms helped balance out the volume of her pants. The only sore note came from the earrings which didn’t belong on this outfit. Something non-intrusive would’ve been the better route to take.

  1. I adore Kiran Rao for her individualistic sense of style. I’m always amazed when the comments on here accuse PnP of ‘bias’ for praising her outfits. To me, she is so eclectic and characterful: she has a vivid, insouciant style that is evocative of Sonia Rykel or Marc Jacobs and the type of draped silhouettes she prefers are classic Helmut Lang. Of course, her choices are anathema to those who categorise any unstructured silhouette as a ‘nighty’ and become rapturous at the sight of yet another model in yet another cut-out gown. But then this is a fashion blog not FHM magazine! I’m not trying to criticise anybody here, just offering my thoughts on one of my favourite style crushes.

    • She’s not going to be praised by fashion trend followers who need to be told what is in. She ticks the quirky indie box which is not exactly individualistic but niche and rocks that look. But sometimes it is not quite. Not liking the pants here cos the drape is off and bunched up oddly.
