  1. Time for this blog to go back to the drawing board. No commentary and no critique. What’s the point of the blog if I can see the same on insta or other page three type portals? Unless the blog has been Co-opted as another arm of celebs’ PR machinery.

    • Totally tone deaf.. they could have said no these promotional vacationsgiven the money they have already.. it is not that they can’t live without this money.. when people lost jobs, lost loved ones, leading restricted lives, these celebs are posting a storm of maldives pics promoting it.. can’t believe even educated actors are doing this

      • 1. Statistically there are more people who die in road accidents then COVID
        2. Leisure destination hotels are doing more business than what they did last year
        3. City hotels are doing 60% business on weekend

If I loose lose somebody isn’t it unfair to expect my neighbours to mourn for it? Why are we targeting the celebrities when anyone who can afford to travel is travelling. Why should they stand in solidarity when we don’t loose any moment to criticize them.

        • @pssst I agree, celebs also trying to make a living. And if they want to travel or go for paid promotions, as long as they are not breaking rules, what’s the problem?
There are many people better off than us and many worse off, that’s the reality of life. Just live and let live.

        • What in the Donald Trump-Bolsonaro kind of explanation is this? More people dying in road accidents so it’s alright to flaunt privilege and travel during COVID? Check your privilege, DAMN

      • I am surprised people are supporting these promotional travels.. Yes, they have every right to enjoy the exotic vacations.. All of us are still enjoying what we can afford and I am no saint to mourn for someone’s loss.. but my problem is that you don’t promote travel on a larger platform when countries around the world are spending millions and making laws to make people understand not to do unnecessary travel and catch covid.. The celebs and privileged get highest amount of security and safety gear, so they are traveling without fear.. they also would get high quality care, god forbid, in case they catch the virus..
Sorry, it just is so irresponsible in my view.

        • Do you think celebs can flout lockdown rules? I mean how do they get on a flight if travel is banned? The governments have not made laws to discourage travel permanently rather lockdown rules/ laws they tighten and relax as and when necessary. All countries are trying to manage the pandemic as well as kick start economies. Understand the bigger picture and that celebs are also following the local and national rules relevant to them.

BTW, that’s a stunning dress she is wearing.

    • I’d really wish they’d donate money from these promotions to all those who lost jobs and livelihoods while living it up. It’s not wrong to live life as you can afford.

    • I agree with you, but , Maldives needs to exist as well, since it’s economy is almost totally dependent on tourism. Would have been an even bigger PR win for them if they’d selected some of our exhausted health workers to gift free holidays to as well, rather than already rich celebs.

      • Hey Sana . These guys don’t get paid in cash for promotion. They just get free stay against posts. So they cannot donate the cash.

The only industry in Maldives is tourist related. They don’t have anything except for Tourism and a Coke plant. By calling celebs and they inturn putting post is giving credibility to the destination. Maldives will be destroyed without tourism I understand the sentiments. But having a myopic view will not help. Got to see the bigger picture. I one has to do what they need to do to survive. Leisure destinations in India are thriving what about them?

        • The bigger picture in reality is that the Maldives have more resorts (reclaimed land) than is ecologically responsible. They are hastening climate change and the extinction of their island life.

            • We were there a couple of years ago at Soneva. We were told that every single resort is on reclaimed land. In fact they were at that point reclaiming land for a Hard Rock or something like that. It is only good news if I got this wrong.

  2. For those saying that the vast inequalities between celebs and ordinary people are a “fact of life” and celebs shouldn’t be criticised, all people are saying is that how disconnected they are from the lives of their so called “fans” aka ordinary folk- flaunting wealth, privilege and status in a “business as usual manner”. This lacks sensitivity, particularly in what has been an unprecedented and devastating pandemic, endangering the health and livelihoods of people worldwide.

  3. Saying that it is insensitive to ‘promote travels’ and ‘travel’ when others have lost people, and are suffering is ridiculous. Trust me, out of personal experience alone, I have been hit very bad in these times in a number of ways. And yet, I decided to travel the moment it was allowed. Because 1. I could 2. I needed it. 3. I was not breaking any rules. And I am no celebrity even.

So please keep this holier than thou gyan on the wrongness of things away, and let people be. Celebrities or not.

  4. Even in lives of ordinary people, people around us can’t be expected to give up their lives just to show solidarity..So, expecting celebs to consider the situation around them and refrain from doing their job/leading their lives cannot be expected.. Ones who choose to do so are a rarity, I would say
