The point is exactly that. Despite being aware of Kurti and Palazzo, how many times were celebs spotted in simple suits when outside, especially the younger lot? Let’s give credit where due – Sara Ali Khan did give the younger actresses a piece of her mind through her simple dressing. Now I see, Kriti, Alia and Janvi in these bracingly summery suits that I never saw them wearing earlier.
That’s exactly the point BlueBells. Sara definitely started a good trend among the younger lot. Otherwise we would be seeing them in OTT makeup/blingy clothes, bra like blouses, skimpy itsy bitsy clothing and all.
If you see most (I agree not all) of her interviews Sara likes to brag that she started to wear white chikankari suits which unfortunately everybody started to copy. But I owned one white chikankari suits even before she made her debut, my cousin owned one. If you see her before kedarnath pictures she has donned beautiful dresses like ted baker etc. Her choice of western clothes were not bad as always. Only after her debut, she is constantly failing in making impact wearing western clothes. Feels like she just wears suits to create an image. Feels like her pr team is also acting as her stylists (As though other actors have their own stlye. I know from airport looks to gym looks, from dentist looks to salon looks all are well curated using a stylist) but atleast they dont brag that they started the trend. Sara needs to understand that Chikankari exists centuries before she was born.
Panache, I think you have just picked one style of clothing here (Chikankari) to judge her. I frankly hardly ever saw these young actresses in anything beyond track suits, maxis, dresses (tent kind especially) and bralette tops (like Pri mentioned) for even trudging to their cars/gym/airport. Kangana is probably the only one who made statement with saree and suits but then she has been around for sometime now.. I definitely do see the young brigade with no makeup cotton suits on in nice prints and copying notwithstanding, it suits them as well. That does not take away from the fact that Sara literally introduced these women, might I say, to a more common man kind of a clothing. Suits were primarily spotted on them during attending of funeral. Besides, I am not surprised that it’s Sara who started the trend… She is humble and one can definitely figure out that she is enough self-aware to be a genuinely nice person. Her choice of clothing through suits and Kurtis certainly make her appear more approachable! And to think that that’s her ‘choice of clothing’, I am not surprised by that.
I own chikankari suits & kurtis my palazzos, and what not too. Sure they existed before I was born but I love seeing actresses wearing them for a light day out. That’s the point. 🙂
