In My Village

In Delhi for an art event, Sonam picked a very striking sari from Rimzim Dadu’s latest collection. With her hair in a knot, gorgeous Suhani Pittie earrings and a Prada clutch finished out her look.

The shredded, texture-rich, treated chiffon sari might not be everyone’s cup of tea but we are happy to see it worn off the runway and outside of an editorial. Like most of her appearances lately have been, we are sure this look of Sonam’s is going to be extremely polarizing… So which side of the fence are you on, like it or not?

  1. She look so stunning! The saree is apt for the event and the colours are beautiful on her. The shred adds so much character to this dress. I love it.

  2. I love the sari and Sonam carries it really well. Blouse could have been of a lighter fabric and a tad bit tighter. But great! Makes up for that horrible Grazia issue!

  3. She looks nice. This shredded sari works on her. But she needs to do something about getting a proper makeup done. In the last pic, the under eye concealer is not doing it’s thing and looks like she got a black eye.

  4. I quite like it. She looks sweet, simple, and pretty. Quite effortless compared to a few of her last few looks. And I adore the earrings, would you be able to ID them?

  5. She looks so gorgeous. IDK when people call her ordinary looking, she may not have big eyes. Having big eyes has nothing to do if you are good looking or not, but somehow she manages to make her presence felt.

  6. I don’t think this is polarizing look. She looks good and makes the saree work. The sad part of this saree is it can only be worn by thin people.

  7. Not a huge Sonam fan, but love this – esp since she has the make up right, so it does not look costume-y. Props for pulling off a difficult garment effortlessly.

  8. I think she looks great and the pallu is interesting. The earrings steal the show, for me.
On a completely different note, I cannot help but bring up her remarks on the fashion sense of her contemporaries in Koffee with Karan. Most celebs are put under a microscope. Most celebs use stylists unless they are Blake Lively. Sonam’s pre-acting era pics don’t speak highly of her personal style either. Given that everyone is entitled to an opinion, I don’t mind someone calling herself a style icon be it dependent on a brigade of stylists. But calling out someone for upping her game by hiring a good stylist is lame. I have liked Sonam for her honesty and her fun nature but I was extremely put off by her pompous interview…may be it was all in jest, but I was not laughing.

    • These interviews with some of the Bollywood celebrities are like watching Rajnikant’s movies. Doesn’t make much sense but its entertainment nonetheless and provides fodder for the memes. 😛

    • +100 . there is a saying in hindi ‘ chitt bhi meri patt bhi meri’ I feel a lot of people suffer from the same in our industry. There will be numerous comments on site saying ‘why doesn’t blah blah hires a stylist , she has money to do that’, And when they do and look better than others, they want to call them out on being unoriginal. UNDERSTAND THE BUSINESS people…still goes to show how much more maturity the fashion divas in our country need to understand what is this all about.

    • Deepika’s PR,is that you ? 😛
I completely agree with Sonam. Deepika has been recently hailed aa a fashionista and all and that is not fair to a) the true fashionistas like Kangana and Neha (regardless of whether they style themselves or are styled) b) to Deepika’s stylist because deepika gets undue credit for that.

Regarding the post, this gets a thumbs-up from me. Sonam finally manages to work it and not look like a caricature.

      • Tania, you need to get out of the bubble and see for real what impact the interview had on people and i am no PR but can tell you overnight Sonam was the topic of conversation on every lunch hour for desis for days to come, where i work. She is opinionated girl, which can be a great quality, all she needs is not to surround herself with people like you who misguide her ego.

  9. I love every part of this look. Surprised HHC and other folks aren’t going crazy about the “one boob show” as they always do.

  10. Obsessed with this look. So fabulous. She should strongly consider leaving acting and just start modeling or becoming stylist to the stars.
