Vidya visited a local college for promotions of Shakuntala Devi wearing printed separates from Masaba with silver earrings. I understand wanting to give the kurta some definition by putting a belt on it but wearing that high didn’t quite work here. Just me feeling that way?

Yes, just you feeling that way. She looks good even in those busy separates…and if the newest trend to leave a loose end for belts ridiculously hanging below the crotch is anything to go by…this is a much better look any day… also, I am glad this is not a knotted top-pant set…
Vidya seems to have lost weight and she looks good in this outfit imo. I like most of her recent looks.
Wearing the belt lower works if you have a thin waist, for straighter body types it highlights the thicker middle. I think Vidya is wearing hers as best suited to her.

Yes she always wears her belts way too high every time.. bothers me too.
I think the belt placement is fine. It gives her the hourglass shape. Any lower and it would have made her look wider. The matching set is nothing to write home about. Nothing designer about it- the Chinese fast fashion sites have similar or better stuff nowadays! But Vidya still looks elegant.
