Alia attended the screening of a series wearing a white jersey gown from Gucci from its 1996 collection when Tom Ford was the creative designer for the label. Am a bit surprised that as an ambassador for the brand, she isn’t wearing the current season outfits. Speaks more about the brand and their confidence in the current creative head.

Back to Ms. Bhatt, it isn’t that she looked bad in it, it’s just that this gown is so not her. We can go oooh-aah over the sourcing effort but I am not oooh-aah-ing over Alia in the gown.

Janhvi who is repping her movie at TIFF 2025 attended two events first in a resham sari from Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and then in a Prada dress and coat from the Spring 2004 collection that used benarasi material for the dress. The sari was pretty and if she’d worn it the Nivi drape way, the look would’ve felt more elegant. As is, I wasn’t a fan and also it just feels so silly to drape the sari this way and then add a shawl and a coat when the right drape would’ve eliminated the need for the shawl/coat.

Loved the Prada look though especially those minimalist Aprajita Toor kolhapuri style sandals.

In Schiaparelli Couture

Alia walked the red carpet on Friday afternoon wearing a custom gown from Schiaparelli styled by Rhea. The gown was modified from the version presented at the 2025 Couture collection and for some reason the end result feels like a watered down Schiaparelli than an original. Add to that this baby hair styling which to me was bordering on black culture appropriation. Overall, I was not feeling this.

I may be the minority here but as always it just feels more like Ms. Kapoor is so busy going for shock via name value or vintage label sourcing, it doesn’t feel like she factors in at all the person who will eventually wear it.

Janhvi attended the amfAR Gala at Cannes 2025 wearing a vintage YSL velvet jacket with custom skirt from Anamika Khanna paired with Jimmy Choo pumps and a statement wide brim fascinator. Rhea did what Rhea does best, mixing vintage with a touch of Indian and Janhvi did look great. But given the Spring season and the French Riveira locale, the look as a whole just felt way too heavy to me.

Janhvi attended the photocall and screening of her movie at Cannes wearing a custom Anamika Khanna creation featuring an embroidered backless bodice and light green skirt with an embroidered border. Kundan jewellery finished out her look including a neckpiece that went down her back highlighting the backless bodice.

The jewelled back is very reminiscent of Cate in her Gaultier but coming back to Ms. Kapoor, this was an interesting look but also very Sonam coded.
