Alia attended the Police Umang show wearing a Manish Malhotra brocade skirt with white badla-work shirt. The maxi skirt/shirt combo was all the rage last year but can’t say am loving this pairing. The top screams 80s disco and that isn’t particularly a good thing.

She’d have fared better if she’d worn a simple sleeveless white or dull gold top to go with the skirt and those traditional Madhurya earrings.

Alia didn’t walk the red carpet at the Filmfare Awards which is why we don’t quite have good pics of her in this Sachin and Babi gown. Not that we really needed any. We thought she looked really good in the strapless number.

And no you are not crazy, she is actually wearing different colored Manolos with that gown.

Athiya picked a blue-teal Monisha Jaising gown for her turn on the red carpet. Wearing her hair swept to the side, a ring-palm cuff is all that it took to finish out the look. First things first, can’t fault the rather timeless silhouette or the minimalism with which it was worn. She looked good!

Now that that’s out of the way, it’s got to be said, the same side-swept hair, no accessories, muted make-up stand is getting just a tad monotonous. You might be inclined to make the ‘personal style’ argument but there’s enough room on that playground to change things up.

Madhuri went the sari route at the Filmfare Awards wearing a white one by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. At first glance itself, I wasn’t a fan and I place blame on the blouse. I think with a simpler blouse, her look wouldn’t have felt as costumey as it did.

I also wish the hairdo was a bit neater.

In Shehlaa

Athiya makes her debut in Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar this year and attended the unveiling event on Tuesday wearing a polka dot Shehlaa three-piece suit.

Unfortunately, under all the camera flashes, one couldn’t quite get a very accurate picture of how the outfit looked on her. Her makeup, though, was flawless and overall she did look nice.

I do think that given the cropped pants, maybe pumps was the better way to go here.
