In Sabyasachi

At the screening of India’s Most Wanted, Sonam was seen wearing Sabyasachi separates from the designer’s latest 20th anniversary Kashgaar Bazaar collection. She also sported a kaftan from the collection earlier in the week.

I really loved this collection and by keeping the hairdo and makeup simple, Ms. Kapoor let the outfits shine. I quite liked. Did you?

P.S. Two Sabyasachi sightings in a week is making me wonder if we’re gonna be seeing more of her in it at Cannes.

  1. Prefer the kaftan (even with those template sabya hair). There is too much print on print going on with those separates. Something should have been more understated.

  2. Ok a few things here:
    1. Sonam elevates the Sabyas here. In and of itself, I think both outfits had the propensity to look overwhelming/busy but she brings an aura to both looks.
    2. Keeping the hair and makeup very contemporary, she aces that fine balance between Indian bohemian fusion.
    3. Look at the jewelry! The gold and silver both make the outfits so much more than stand-alone pieces of patchwork cloth.
    4. I don’t like the black shoes she has on with the first outfit. If flats was what she was going for, I’d have preferred tan brogues.

    • I wondered too. Buy the coat looks like it could be a cotton blend not wool? And may be could have worked for evening weather in Bombay?

      • no ways !! it is 35 degrees here.. i simply cannot understand how can she wear boots and a coat and basically so many layers in this weather.. it is just soo out of the place .. and all this for a movie screening..her dressing is really absurd!

  3. How chic she looks in the second row pics! The long fitted look suits her frame so well [Unlike the exaggerated sleeve volumes etc that she normally sports]- the colors and makeup is point on! I do wish the neck embroidery ended a little higher but as PnP say “its a minor gripe”

  4. She looks AMAZING!!! This is the fashion forward Sonam we used to know. After getting married, she is trying too hard to fit into her husband’s clique with the whole dad sneakers and weird dresses but she needs to just be herself.

  5. She looks beautiful in the caftan – those colors look lovely on her. But if the neckline is so low on someone as tall as Sonam, how can anyone actually wear that in real life? The first set of pics – I have no idea what is going on and which weather is she dressed for. It feels like she was way too cold and just draped an old kambal over herself.

  6. The kaftan is beyond gorgeous

The coat is gorgeous on its own and should have been worn with plain. It’s like sonam was in a hurry with 3 printed articles and put them on all at once

    • The kaftan is soooo pretty DROOLS. After a LONG time I absolutely loved a Sabya piece and Sonam looks amazing. I wonder how this would look on someone not so tall or skinny (trying to see how it would look on me haha!)
The top pics are too dark and too much is going on..what is she wearing underneath that green coat? I actually thought this was an airport look lol!

  7. I loved the Kashgaar bazaar collection by Sabyasachi and Sonam looks great here but why is she wearing the first one to a movie screening??? Other people at the screening were dressed in jeans/sweats.

  8. The coat will overwhelm us lesser mortals – Sonam with her lithe frame is salvaging it. The kaftan has afghani influence and the jewellery majorly elevates it .

    • Oof let’s not be so negative always. So many comments here about only statuesque slim people being able to carry off looks. Christina Hendricks in Mad Men was gorgeous, Siriano regularly dresses plus size celebs and they look lovely and Sarah Jessica Parker is so short but Carrie in SATC could carry off way more outlandish looks than so many statuesque models and actresses can. I hope dressing according to body type rules is passé by now! 🙂

      • Where is it negative? It’s just factual. Dressing according to body type is not passé, it’s common sense. Look at the last post with kangana’s breasts spilling out. How will Vidya look in skinny jeans and crop top? While everyone has a right to wear what they want , let’s not confuse that with propriety and body appropriateness .

        • Lots of plus size models look smashing in crop tops and skinny jeans. You should look them up 🙂 Also why I gave the examples of Christina Hendricks and SJP who clearly didn’t follow body type rules in their shows and are iconic. Following rules never made anyone stylish, methinks

  9. So. Much. Effort. for just a film screening. I repeat, it’s a screening, not a premier. And a coat in the middle of Bombay summer. Talk about emperor’s new clothes. It’s just exhausting being Sonam.

  10. Frankly, she looked extremely silly when she was photographed with other people who attended the screening ! Even malkika, arjun girl friend turned up in quite simple clothes..

  11. I have a secret crush on Sabyasachi, so it’s for me to say that the jacket is really overwhelming Sonam, however the printed kurti underneath looks pretty interesting. That kaftan is gorgeous..love that old world print.

  12. Oh I was waiting for a debut on these pages of Sabya’s Kashgaar bazaar collection. I loved it when it was unveiled and found it very unusual. Sonam is looking amazing in that kaftan.
