In Emilia Wickstead x Anamika Khanna

Sonam was a presenter at the concert celebrating King Charles III’s coronation and was seen wearing a custom gown by Emilia Wickstead using a printed textile created by Anamika Khanna referencing a chintz print

Me, I was a bit underwhelmed because I hear the mention of Anamika Khanna and I expect some of her signature drape or embroidery work. To see that her only input was just the creation of the textile was quite disappointing.

Read more about the chintz print referenced in the gown here.

  1. From a fashion standpoint, this was very underwhelming. Two amazing designers collaborating and I expected the result to be a lot more interesting.

Another thing which is very disappointing is her extremely photoshopped photos on Instagram. She looks like a completely different person there.

    • Yeah agree with you on the instagram thing. Sonam and Alia are pretty girls but what they put on instagram is so vastly different from unedited pap pics.

  2. This was such a disappointing show beyond words. The print is not something I’d pick for a coronation concert. You’re better of with block colour on a rich textile and clean, cut silhouette accessorised with stunning jewels which is her forte.

The hairstyle is also such a downer, looks like coconut oil champi day. The makeup is also so ashy, especially the under eye.

Sonam and Rhea take their fashion so seriously that sometimes they fail to just go for simple yet effective looks. All the story and custom creation is great effort but what’s the point if the outcome is so bizarrely mundane and not even appropriate

  3. So they basically exported fabric from India for a British designer to create this… Was it supposed to invoke the East India Company, colonialism, and the good old days of the British Raj? At least Anamika got equal billing.

Seriously though, did they not think through the optics on this?

    • Alas, common sense is not that common. And there is no wealth in common wealth.
But seriously, why would she participate in the promotion of colonial pomp??

  4. This could have been an amazing opportunity to fuse rich Indian weaves with a western silhouette. The chintz pattern and colour looks so much like upholstery fabric. Dislike the hair as well.

    Very underwhelming!

  5. Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead collaborates to create this?

Our local designer shop will come up with sassier designs.

The jewelry doesn’t match, the hair looks as if it is unwashed for weeks, and the dress is good for a small day event with family or friends.

She should have stuck with a classic British gown silhouette complete with vintage diamonds.

  6. And she is supposed to be a fashionista? With that outfit? In what universe? Looks like drapery or upholstery fabric like someone above mentioned. Nothing remotely glamorous or “star” material either with the outfit or Sonam. Quite ordinary.
