Wearing Gucci, Simone attended the premiere of the upcoming season of Bridgerton on Tuesday evening in London. Do I like the outfit? Not really. The three different lace patterns made the outfit too busy.
Am I excited to see brown girls as leading ladies in a popular drama? Absolutely!

Color representation is great but needs better work individually in terms of dressing up and looking inspiring..

This is such a weird statement about lean bodies and white skin. There might be one too many style elements which makes the look a little crowded but that is not due to her skin tone or her body type. This is such a biased statement. I think she looks lovely notwithstanding her dress.
OMG…Imagine a brown girl saying this about brown women . No wonder there is so much racism in this world and sadly so much of it comes from our very own colored people .
Brown girls can wear anything and everything that white girls wear and sometimes we end up looking even better . Period

Some Indians with less melanin have always had lots of opinions on what the lowly brown multitudes of this country should wear for their “skin tones” and “body type”. A most tired track passed on down generations.

Without the sleeves and the stockings, this outfit might have worked. Not sure though. As is it is too busy. Chest up she looks radiant. Such a pretty girl!
I’ve seen her a few times near where I work. Beautiful face and such a confident body language.
that’s a seriously weird outfit
Simone is lovely, and her makeup here is spot on. Sadly, a lot of western MUAs still haven’t figured out how to make up brown skin, and the camera and lighting teams are yet to figure out how to properly light warmer skin tones. The lighting in the Bridgerton trailer makes Simone look washed out, and one toned. Hardly like the very beautiful girl she is, IRL. And they seem to have dressed her in cooler toned outfits too. Long ways to go yet.
Super happy to see brown girls take on leading roles! Going by her work on Sex Education, Simone has great screen presence and is a very competent actor. Cheering for her and other actors of colour.

Totally agree. These were my exact thoughts while watching the trailer/teaser what not.
This lady is gorgeous and has very sharp features, but the makeup/lighting in the Bridgerton trailer indeed makes her look very one toned and washed out. On top of that the plethora of cool toned outfits she is seen to be sporting in the show appears in very stark contrast to the tonal makeup in the show.
Hope the MUAs improve on makeup for brown skin to highlight the gorgeous features the ladies naturally have.
Absolute disaster of an outfit. Also, hate the red eye make up trend – it makes her look tired and harsh at the same time.
Utterly dislike the outfit, so much going on ad then there is the lace, and then the sheer, and then the lacy stockings…ai yai yai yai yai….. SUCH a wasted opportunity here.

I don’t mind the outfit. It serves the right amount of drama. She looks great. Someone made a comment about MUA not knowing how to work with brown skin tone, while that might be true for regular people I don’t that’s the case here. It could just be lighting.

Ah! I have yet to get to it. So excited about seeing a brown girl on such a popular show.
It looks very avant garde like it could have fit in for a Met pre-event sort of look or even like New York Fashion week viewing outfit for Gucci. I actually like the outfit waist up. Waist down, agreed it’s a little confusing and loses the effect. I do love the tights with those shoes look. Very chic. Simone is SO beautiful and I cannot wait to see her as Kate Sharma!!!
I don’t like the outfit & I am not a big fan of Simone. She is absolutely gorgeous but if the show wanted Indian representation I wish they would have made a different choice. And by a different choice I don’t mean like a light skinned model but someone of a more petite frame. Maybe I am just venting because I found s2 underwhelming.
I’m writing this after watching the series so I might be biased but Simone looks fab here. I mean, how many Bolly girls we’ve seen make safe outfit choices when their careers were being launched and here’s this newbie brown girl on global stage picking something bold and edgy. Even objectively (with a grain of salt, see my disclaimer above) this is beautiful!
