We caught two sightings of Rani’s recently, one in a denim dress while at a restaurant in Mumbai and another at Sunita Kapoor’s birthday do wearing separates. And neither look did much for her.

The Louis Vuitton monogrammed sneakers with the embellished dress was an overkill. And with the other look, the purple halter top just didn’t work with those printed pants. Add contrasting green accessories to the mix and the whole look just screamed dated!

  1. Ufffff just horrendous. She looks like the New Jersey aunties who shop the outlet malls to get Gucci phone cases and LV sneakers. Please Rani, dress high end without being a label monger to display your wealth. We all know you’re loaded.

    • Never understood what the “dress high-end” thing is about……Fashion is about style not trying to look rich? The large monogram labels can really ruin a nice outfit, so distracting and almost never matches the rest.

Plus there are so many fake ones and everyone is wearing fakes now. Once I was twinning with a homeless guy with the same Gucci cap (it was a gift- I hate monogram anything-I should have sold it while the tag was still on)

Basically store all your labels and in two years this flaunt-your-label trend will die out…..

Rani is so stunning and carries desi clothes so well…..I just dont remember her doing anything right when it comes to western wear ever

  2. At this point it’s pretty clear she just wants to showcase her branded items..I find it hard to believe that a person who’s been in the show biz for over 20 years can commits this many fashion disasters..her stylist has given up on her!

  3. New Jersey “aunties”? So there is literally no other way to critique someone’s fashion sense except using other women as a metaphor. Especially older women?

    • That was ageist and totally a low ball!

I have aunties in NJ who wear LV while rocking a bindi and desi jewels and they are all super fab and have their own style. I personally dont like labels anymore bc I think they almost always mismatch the rest of the clothes and distract from the outfit. But its the trend now. No one is calling Kylie a “NJ auntie” for buying LV and Gucci ….

  4. At least the green bag and shoes match. The purple top and printed pants would have looked better had she toned down the makeup and worn it with black sandal. She has such beautiful eyes, what’s with the sunglasses at night?

  5. I don’t love what Rani wears often, but I do love that she dresses the way she wants rather than the parade of actresses that dress according to latest trends.

    • Just my thoughts, not bothered with her lack of fashion sense, it’s alright given how everyone is shoving “fashion “ in your face lately

  6. The colour of the separates looks better in the videos .. it’s not high fashion but looks comfortable.
As for the dress, I don’t mind it but the shoes don’t really go with the dress. The colours clash somewhat. However, it’s an improvement over her past Non- ethnic wear appearances where she is wearing chunky shoes.

  7. We’re like broken clocks with this but there’s literally no one more in need of a stylist who can help her figure out how to dress for her body type. Pretty much every single outfit of hers is a disaster, when not wearing a sari. Classic case of money can’t buy style or taste.

  8. If she had worn flowy white trousers in the second outfit, it would have gone from clashing/dated to retro (especially with the gold in the accessories). A Rani sighting is always a pleasure for me, and if she is working with a stylist now, I hope she finds somebody else who does her justice.

It really fascinates me how tasteful she is when it comes to sarees (rarely ever a misstep, even when she was younger). I almost feel like she is pushing hard for some different aesthetic when she wears western clothes, but I honestly think she would fare well if she applied the same aesthetic – would love to see her in simpler items and from fabrics like crisp cotton, linen, or even chanderi silk. She would knock it out of the park.

  9. There’s no way she looks in the mirror and thinks “I look really good” before stepping out in these outfits. So much beauty and money is going to waste here.

  10. She needs to give her designer sunglasses a rest. I don’t mind the dress in the first look. But the shoe choice is all sorts of wrong. Less said about the second look the better. Formal silk top paired with pajama bottoms and paired with random green bag and shoes. Gold accessories are adding to the woes!

  11. I do not care about the brand and did not even notice labels. I kind of like the denim dress, given i am always biased towards denim…. denim in any form. May be junior’ish but i would wear it. This is beauty of new age trends… If malaika can wear skimpy, why not rani or others who may not have 0 or 2 size.

Purple came ugly in pics.. it hard color to carry. And palazzo are look bigger on her..
Oh yes, I am also biased towards Rani.. she is my girl crush kinddaaa

I did not understand NJ auntie comment but sounds demeaning. I see most middle age women in those LV /Gucci stores are either of Asian descent ( not Indian) or young Indian couples. May be she meant former. Anyways they dress well for their age.
