In Ralph & Russo

Comment image 64

So yeah, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas wore a Ralph & Russo gown to the Grammys. Not sure on whom to assign blame here, the designers for conceptualizing this dress, the stylist for picking it, or Priyanka for green-lighting something so unflattering to wear… Either way, the gown did absolutely nothing for the actor. And that belly-button bling… Why?!! No, just no. PC can do so much better, this was a miss!

    • I have to preface this with I’m not a PC fan but her skin show wasn’t what fazed me, it’s the lack of support for the “girls” and the photoshopped pics that her team released on insta that made them look flat almost painted on. Her team needs to take some tips from the kardashian clan or at the very least get some “skimms” and paste them right.
PS: There were also pics where she was sitting and those did NOT fare as well as these.

  1. Difference of opinion here – What you find unflattering (I still can’t fathom why), I find it positively risque. I love this! She looks smashing. And that first pic with seductive eyes – That look is PC in ‘tinka tinka’ song!!

      • Indeed she does. Lol.. I think we are the only 2 to like this look of PC. I really don’t care though but people can be respectful in their expression, I feel! She has taken a massive risk here with the neckline plunging so low – Both sartorially and mentally (the comments man!) AND it has paid off. I give it to her for that. It is okay to not like a look, it is STILL okay to behave like a prude but it never is okay to use a foul language!

    • Yes, that risque is a good one! also cant go Wendell Rodricks way to say her sitting position is unflattering. Thank god, she was confident not to hide behind clutches.

  2. The first thought was she’s taking a shortcut to headlines by copying JLo’s iconic Versace dress from the 1999 Grammy’s. While that dress was mind-blowing, this is surely a mind-farting dress. Not to sound like a prude but she looks vulgar in this “I forgot to wear lingerie inside my blingy bathrobe”. And that belly button stud just adds to the tackiness. Now hold my hair back while I puke.

  3. This is so unflattering in terms of how it sits on her and how it is designed and styled.
I love the makeup and not so subtle J-Lo vibes..

  4. I hate this look. Definitely one of PC worst choice of clothing.
I don’t mind the tassel, color, embroidery but in a different design but the long cut v-neck with 70% boobs coming out is absolutely ridiculous and a no-no.
U shud have post her sitting pics it’s much more worst than this.

    • First, her makeup and hair are good.

Now to the dress… Apart from the fact that it’s risquΓ© as hell, the dress is making her look short and stumpy! And what do they use, industrial grade two sided tape to keep the neckline in place? I know even 3M couldn’t do it!

  5. Looking at the fit of this horrible outfit made me rethink my criticism of Jennifer lopez’s Green dress. Compared to PC she looked good. The fit of the neckline is horrible, I truly do not understand why there is so much skin show among Bollywood actresses. If you have talent you do not need to dress like this to get attention.

    • DiptiN you cannot say the last line apparently “If you have talent then why do you need skin show” πŸ˜›
I am told celebrity women are modern and dress for “themselves”.

I fully agree with you. Looks like Nandita Das and Vidya Balan are the only one fitting your definition these days, everyone else is on the fastest road to take it all off under the pretext of dressing for “themselves”.

  7. This was disappointing on so many levels. Priyanka Chopra is a smart, intelligent, and beautiful woman who shines with her confidence and wit and did a great job of representing the Indian Industry in Hollywood. She broke barriers, she gave it back to people who mocked her, and she was feisty, which was so much fun to watch.

Unfortunately, of late, she is trying to become someone she is not. Common PeeCee, you never let any pressure get to you, then why this running in a race to establish yourself as a part model/part actress/ part Glam Goddess! Now that I have vented out my displeasure, this is the worst dress she has worn ever.

    • Disagree with the “unfortunately of late…”.
She has always dressed atrociously, this outfit being a new low even for her.

Unrelated: Her makeup is so so off – she looks dull faced and even the body contouring & make-up looks poorly done. Shoddy, head to toe.

      • @Judge: To be honest, majority of comments here are of ‘a bit much category’. I don’t understand the reaction, really. It’s okay not to like a look.. but before calling her for ‘reaching a new low’, people should focus on how low their language stooping to!

        • Yes I agree! people seem disappointed with her choice of dress, and seem intent on spewing verbal venom in this regard! I am confused how she has suddenly stopped becoming all that she was previously, just because she chose to dress risque on this occasion.
Are we saying that a person should dress on the basis of the role they play in society? That is a shallow concept!

  8. What the ‘Bob Mackie fringe JLo-esque’ kaftan is going on? This looks like something Kitty Pong from Crazy Rich Asians would wear before she hired a social+style consultant.

  9. Maybe they got the taping wrong? Not even sure how it is done LOL .And that’s why it seems little odd.
Her usual confidence on face also seems to be missing I feel and that maybe due to her lack of comfort factor with the dress? That also kills the look.

  11. not that i like the design from any angle but it’d look SO much better on a flat-chested 6-footer. on PC this is just thirsty. she knew what she was doing, obviously and to that extent she’s been successful but i wonder if she’d bargained for topping ALL the worst-dressed lists out there

PC has hit a new low in bad fashion choices and has officially moved into the β€œanything-for-attention” category.

  13. You could see in the video she was so uncomfortable in her clothes. And it showed on her face, she looked so tense. Maybe somebody said ‘wear this dress or we shall shoot you’. Can’t think of any other reason one would agree to this

  14. Oh PC , there were so many times I debated with my colleagues on how supremely amazing you are, you success ladder,to make a mark out there, be confident, the way you answered in all those phirangi talk shows. Being a plus one at the grammy’s, you should have done something classy to support hubby dearest and let the attention be at him alone. This is all levels wrong, it looks like a half done bathrobe. A designer one at it :-/

  15. Priyanka, you are trying too hard! going too far!! You are such a huge role model for Indian origin girls all over the world. You have accomplished much and speak for the have-nots passionately and freely. You have listened to your heart and married the love of your life…all of which I love love love! You have a fierce mind and stunning body. In today’s age, you can wear whatever the hell you want. It’s your choice! I just ask that you consider how you are viewed by young girls who are immersed in a culture that showcases women as sex objects. Are you perpetuating this culture by falling prey to these extremes? Stand tall, bold and strong for these girls. Fashion be damned. Peace!

    • But being objectified by other people and not being shy about your sexuality are two very different things. As much as I am not a fan of this design, I think PC is that combination of sexy, intelligent, and strong, and she exhibits each of these qualities quite clearly. Maybe she is standing tall, bold, and strong for these girls by sending out a message that she can wear whatever she wants, however she wants, whenever she wants, and will not consider anybody’s judgment when she decides on doing so. And that she is not shy about showcasing the female form, whether that is a bit more overtly as here, or a bit more implicitly on other occasions.

  17. As far as timepass goes I read the best dressed / worst dressed stuff and the comments both in Hollywood and here. My Gosh you guys! The worst dressed list in say a cosmopolitan or msn or ET etc is about the dress, fit, makeup and nails… whatever. They criticize harshly too. But this criticism here is just so obnoxious and personal and about the person behind the dress… why oh why?.
    – She’s trying too hard! ( to look nice?.. every one does that)
    – She’s stupid ( For wearing gown you don’t like?)
-She’s sucking up to Hollywood ( How? by wearing a gown to Grammy’s… aren’t actresses here wearing it to every Tom, Dick and Harry’s party show, ribbon cutting?
    – She’s not representing India( I think we can give this a rest for a little bit. She wore a saree to her SIL wedding)
-She’s Desperate, vulgar, tacky, … ( for showing boobs? )

May be we can start by “The dress is” instead of “She is” for a little bit? This is after all only a fashion site. why be so vicious.

  18. If one checks the history of the HHC pages, PC was never a good dresser, for the longest time her style was short body con dresses and mediocre straight ironed hair so expecting any ” high notes” on fashion front from her is a little too much. This piece of fabric that she chose to wear is beyond me but then that’s PC…always wanting attention even if its for the wrong reasons.

  19. I just looked her sitting pic..and thats horrible. Her SILs are defintely dressed better, especially Danielle’s light grey grown. Probably that was too simple for her and she had to stand out. Her style is hit or miss…But this was all time low for me. No,… not becuase of her neckline. Not fan of JL’s green dress either or these necklines feel like naked person has come out … but defintely much better than her.. shoulders too big , hanging, or hair style …and her girls …. .everything.

  21. The dress (/bathrobe/curtain) is so bad that even JLo could not have salvaged it, and PC doesn’t even have the body type for making this work. What saddens me is that PC is an inspiration for so many young girls, and she has this incredible platform now (after years of hard work) where she can use her presence and voice to inspire girls to love their bodies as they are. It should be okay to accept your body type for what it is, and to dress the way you look your best! And not follow any trends or any style that someone else may have wore. YOU DO YOU! PC, sadly, did not come through … again. This time, it’s even worse than any time before.

The fuss is not about the skin show. It’s certainly not about being prude. It’s about her not showing that she owns her body, that she is comfortable with who she is, that she doesn’t have to try hard to be someone else. These are lessons I teach my daughter every day, and it would be nice if many many young girls who watch the Grammys and are looking at the red carpet for someone who looks like them could see Priyanka Chopra embody the feminine strength, power and grace with a panache! Too bad that didn’t happen. And of course, it’s disappointing. She has worked so hard to be where she is … and this is how she chooses to let it go.

Coming back to the dress, I really don’t know why anyone would wear that. It is not at all flattering. Her goal seems like wanting to look young, hot and sexy. But instead, the dress ages her, something is seriously wrong with the cleavage contouring making it so flat, and the belly button stud takes the cake of tackiness. No No just No. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ I heard her mom’s interview on some youtube channel. Mama Chopra said that she had advised PC that if she dresses like her worth is of a penny, that’s how she will be treated, but if she dresses like she deserves a lot more, that’s how she will be treated. Maybe PC needs to listen to her Mama again.
