Sari Style

Both Pooja and Sayani attended a recent Iftar party wearing saris, but that’s about where the similarity ended. While the former picked a sparkly black ruffled sari by Arpita Mehta, the latter served up some color in her magenta-toned sari by Vvani. Heavy smoky eyes on Pooja, striking lip color on Sayani and statement necklaces on both is how they rounded out their look.

Pooja’s look seems somewhat off for an Iftar party, but that’s just us. Sayani had the color going for her but can’t say we were big fans of that embellished blouse or bib necklace. Feel differently?

  1. Trust some Bollywood girls to glamorize something associated with a holy month!
While most attendees dressed up decent, pooja turned up in a bra blouse which looks distasteful and event inappropriate.

    • No way was anyone dressed decent. It was hard to believe it’s a iftar party. Looked like wedding + bw fare. Preity was the only sensibly dressed woman.

  2. do any of these actresses have an iota of common sense? The bra blouse to a iftar party? You might follow the same religion but at least pause and ask yourself is this appropriate for the occasion or party I’m attending. It’s important to have respect for the occasion. no one told pooja maybe a different outfit would be better? just ridiculous and im sick of these bra blouses

  3. Pooja looks nice but it is wayyy off for an Iftar party.

Sayani could have looked better without the necklace. But she still looks nice (I am going to ignore the oily makup as it seems like a staple for her)

  4. Is this event-inappropriate? There’s a red carpet, billboard-backdrop, and media. It looks like any Bollywood party, not an Iftar-holy month kind of a party.

  5. No respect or understanding of how to dress for an iftar party. Sadly Sayani is also becoming a typical Bollywood actress with glitzy ott outfits

  6. Sayani: wash the face, apply mattifying primer and add light makeup. Take off the necklace. Cover the chest area just a wee bit more as its iftar gathering after all.

The other lady: can’t be saved in any way.
    Go home, please.

  7. Why should one cover up because it’s an iftar party or any other such religious party . Do the onlookers eyes change based on the event ? I mean , almost all comments say cover up except with one comment which actually says due to the ambience ( red carpet , lights etc ) it does not look like an iftar party at all . I agree . It’s to do with the way the party is hosted . What’s with the logic of covering up for certain events and okay for others .
A better example for event appropriate dressing is to turn up less decked up for someone else’s wedding , white/black for a funeral , more fun and a little modest for children’s event which is more from a sensible point of view . Someone explain the logic about covering up if it’s a holy ‘ party’ .

    • It’s just basic respect for the occasion.. oh but why? Why at all?
also why dress up sooo much when all you gotta do is eat, greet and leave.

      • Hmmmm , covering up or not is a choice . Does not translate to respect or disrespect . All parties ,that’s what you pretty much do – eat greet leave . Might as well dress up. Unless it’s a specific meet to pray or meditate which requires you to dress simple for your own self to not be distracted and help you focus , wedding /funeral/kids event/weather/office appropriate ,no one has a right to say cover up and be event appropriate
Think of it , deep deep down , we are still prudes .

        • Yes, being half naked is a choice and perfect example of how individualistic times have made us. Damn the occasion, the purpose, the place, anything at all.. stand no chance against our ‘choice’. I’m sorry but don’t let these ideologies corrupt your real sense of right and give you a false idea of choice.

          • You do realise that , ‘being half naked ‘ , in your own words sounds so so wrong . Again , this policing revolves around how uncomfortable the on looker feels , which when you delve some more , is more of an onlooker issue than the wearer . In simple words , I want you to cover up because I , an onlooker feel uncomfortable …..dig deeper on this ….in simple words , why do I feel uncomfortable = you not covering up makes me distracted or tempted (?) .So isn’t it a you problem ? ‘ Choice ‘ you say ? Like I said , you really need to dig deeper . Question yourself why it is a matter of respect or disrespect . Actually , you ( when I say you , I mean the onlooker ) are the one being disrespectful by trying to judge and bring in moral policing .

  8. Very surprising that Sayani’s MUA, her team, friends, family, colleagues, well wishers, media and P&P in their posts do not tell to her that she looks like an oil can. Always.
