Cover This!

Vogue India is going to be debuting with a smokin’ hot cover with Bipasha Basu in Roberto Cavalli, Gemma Ward in Valentino, Priyanka Chopra in Giorgio Armani, Lakshmi Menon in Chanel, Preity Zinta in Christian Dior, and Monikangana Dutta in Gucci!

I think Basu and Dutta totally steal the show, umm, cover! But this cover totally reminds me of the inaugaral cover of Vogue China which also had the seemingly mandatory Gemma Ward.

Gucci At Cue

At the CUE Fall/Winter 2007 collection showcase, I spotted a lady sporting the Gucci ‘indy’ top handle bag! Though I don’t care for the whole tassels look myself, its been very popular with the younger Hollywood set. And this lady gets full points for carrying the nicest version of the bag in the chocolate guccisima leather!

And the bag in question…

Does anyone know who that woman is?

Spotted: Gul, Urmila

Spotted the usually poorly styled Gul Panag at Anita Dongre’s Organic Odyssey, looking quite pretty and well put together! She was wearing a really simple yet very pretty dress from Anita Dongre’s collection and was looking good! But this repeat fashion offender is not totally off the hook yet. She was also carrying a Louis Vuitton bag and if you have been reading this blog, you know that we have a problem with ‘obnoxious-logo-slapping-all-over-the-product’ type of bags!

And then there is Urmila, debuting on the Fashion Offender List, for reasons you only have to glance below to know…

Shiney logo on a tee. Eecky fitting trousers. Random belt. Ugly shoes. Colors that didn’t work. Noone needs more to be a fashion disaster. No sirrie.

When The Labels Come Calling

The label sporting brigade was out in full force at the Lipton tea promotional event at spa and I couldn’t help but flag down a couple of labels!

The picture below is of Nandita Mahtani carrying a Balenciaga bag which had caught on really big and fast with A listers and fashionistas alike, but that was a while ago and is so last season and an absolute ‘has-been’ now!

I also spotted her wearing Gucci ‘royal’ flat pumps! Canvas and dotted with the logo, all over! Its always the same fashion offense, logo overkill!

And then there is Madhoo carrying an Hermes Birkin Bag. The absolute lustworthy bag that costs upwards of thousands of dollars and where one has to be on a waitlist for months and months! And Madhoo has that bag, unbelievable! And how can one carry a Birkin and be dressed like that? Am speechless.

Madhoo has a Birkin. Seriously. I can’t get over it.

Thewa Jewelry

I have been waiting to write this post for a while now. I was really excited when I found this cool and unique jewelry style and couldn’t wait to share it with the rest of y’all!

I found this, as part of my research for Kundan jewelry. I never knew this kind of style existed. I am familiar with “filigree” work, but that is mostly done in silver. I had never seen similar kind of work done with gold.

I found from my research that it is a 400 year old art and the jewelry is created by fusing 23K gold with colored handmade glass. The common glass colors are mostly red, green and blue because they mimic the tones of rubies, emeralds and sapphires. The designs can vary depicting animals like peacocks or elephants or can also depict day-to-day life, legends and even hunting scenes.

What’s even better is that there are so many choices out there to select from and one should definately own one piece of Thewa jewelry.

Now, the prices for these pieces can vary based on the gold being used. You can have gold plated casings on the glass vs actual 23K gold casings.

I like this set because you can wear the pendant with a simple gold chain and it would work with any kind of outfit.

This is such a classic piece. It has that “khaandaani” look to it with the three strand “maharani” style design.

Thewa and Kundan together! Fabulous! The price is quite steep for this piece( $1487.50) but the design is exquisite.

I love this set for its modern feel. The understated design in the earrings do make it look very traditional and at $937, it is a little more reasonable than the Kundan set.

Enjoy the selections!
