In Miss Sixty

Spotted designer Gayatri Khanna wearing a creation by fellow designer JJ Valaya. Valaya’s colored checked pattern was seen at Wills Fashion Week last year mostly in cottons and were quite vibrant. Can’t say the same for the version on Gayatri though. In plain cotton the dress would have worked, but this silk velour-ish version I don’t dig.

Update: Turns out Gayatri was in a Miss Sixty dress also seen on Chloe Sevigny. Thanks ‘geisha’ for the correction.

From Fab To Drab

Why is it that when I am just about to applaud someone for their improvement, they have to go and screw it up. I had loved this yellow sari on Suchitra at the Women’s day event and although I wished she had worn a better blouse (instead of the strappy one), I had to admit this was a huuuuge improvement for her. Who knew she had it in her?

Alas, the excitement was thoroughly shortlived. Suchitra went back to her drabby ways last night at the Rajasthan Royals bash by wearing an animal print dress. Now, we love a good animal print dress but this one had way too much of it and that gold ‘Dolce’ style lining was just plain tacky. And those shoes…

A Three Way Ditto

Black, white or white with the jewelled belt. Got a preference for either of the three Monisha Jaisingh dress?

Thanks ‘skipper’ for the label spotting and thanks ‘girly’ for the Genelia tip-off!

In Lanvin

Update: Instead of wrapping the longer layer around the neck like the model, Kareena wore this blue Lanvin as is. Thanks ‘anoo’ and ‘fashionista‘ for the spotting!

Which version do you like the dress better? The model’s or Kareena’s?

………………………………………………………………………………………

Kareena wore a long blue kaftan style dress with a flower detail at an event for Anne French. Now, I am a big fan of this style because it is roomy, comfy and can be very elegant if you pick a monochromatic look.

But, in Kareena’s case I don’t like the neckline or the uneven length of this dress and that flower was completely unnecessary. Now, the same blue color in the Jil Sander design or even the Missoni one(see below) and I would have loved loved loved Kareena.

What do you think of Kareena’s dress? A blue belle, is she?

Velvet Fever

Actress Aamna Sharif attented a Meet and Greet in Toronto in a velvet mehendi green outfit. Now we’ve seen our share of velvet outfits but Aamna’s was a first. Not only was her kameez velvet but so were her pants.

Love it or hate it?

P.S. The outfit seems like a Manish Malhotra creation and thanks ‘Tasneem’ for the news tip-off.
