WLIFW Spring 2013: Ranna Gill

This was one expansive collection! Plain, printed, embellished and ombré dresses, both long and short. Gilets, Spring coats, separates, swimsuits and cover-ups. There just was so much, can’t help but wish the runway show was just a little edited. That said, the collection is sure to be a commercial success what with its easy to wear and summery silhouettes.

In Twos

Two back-to-back events had Upasana pick desi, one more dressed-up than the other. Prefer one over the other?

WLIFW Spring 2013: Hemant And Nandita

Having worked with floral-prints very successfully in the past (Autumn/Winter 2011, Spring 2012), expectations were high from Hemant and Nandita. Titled ‘Kaleidology’, the collection saw extensive use of abstract floral prints.

If you’ve read this blog long enough, you know am a sucker for a good print. And while for the most part they were visually appealing (and some looks did stand out), the presentation tended to get repetitive. It was a little too one note for me.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Joy Mitra

Joy Mitra presented a collection that drew inspiration from the colonial India while attempting to give traditional garments a more contemporary twist. I can’t quite honestly say the collection made much of an impression. A lot of the traditional looks seemed like rehashed (and badly executed) Anand Kabra and/or Anamika Khanna designs.

Desi Girls

While Mana and Juhi went with pink and gold, Farah picked an anarkali that was off-white and gold with just a pop of pink. Whose look are you digging the most?
