WLIFW Spring 2013: Shivan & Narresh

Inspired by the work of abstract expressionist painter Barnett Newman, Shivan and Narresh presented a collection that was color-blocked perfection. No-fuss, very sleek and, just the right nod to Fifties and Sixties without getting too costume-y or gimmicky. Not much to dislike about this collection.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Gauri And Nainika

We’ve seen the designer duo experiment with draped ruffle trim since their Spring 2012 collection. But this time around, gone were colored gowns and in its place was a more dramatic take on the ruffle trip and an all-white collection with black accents. The thigh-high slit gown with sheer panel was an interesting surprise (Row Three).

We are bound to see this collection on the Red Carpet and lots of it too. Question is, who will be the first to be spotted in one?

These ladies had one thing in common at the Bachchan do… Net! While it seemed like Sunita and Esha wore net saris styled like lehengas, Anushka wore a lehenga by Manali Jagtap.

Am not a fan of either of these outfits. But given how sloppy the outfits look on Sunita and Esha, will have to give this one to Anushka by default. At least hers doesn’t look like it is coming undone.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Nida Mahmood

Known best for her quirky prints and kitschy aesthetic, Nida’s latest collection checked all those boxes. Amidst the kaftans, saris, separates and dresses, it was the embroidered rooster print cropped pants that stood out. Cute!

WLIFW Spring 2013: Charu Parashar

Charu Parashar presented a collection that used a mix of lace and prints. Aside from the orange dress in Row One with the sheer panel, nothing really stood out. The prints felt dated!
