To say Sonal looked bad in her Amrit gown would be putting it very mildly. The sheer gown with its strategically placed embroidery was one that even she couldn’t salvage. If you’re going to wear a beige toned gown that’s lighter than your skin tone, you don’t want to OD on bronzing.

Maybe this looked better in person, but from what we see, we don’t like. Not one bit.

Swara, who won best supporting actress at the Screen Awards, wore a Rabani and Rakha fusion sari gown with pearl earrings and ring by Renu Oberoi.

I had marked her mint sari as one that needed an outing bad and am so glad to see it on the red carpet. Am glad she skipped on wearing something on the hands as it lets one truly focus on the look without being distracted by too many elements.

For Chitrangda, it was a white Dior gown featuring a black panel waist detail. Now, the gown looked good but I wish the look was finished out better. The hair and makeup felt rather lackluster.

We saw more effort at a calendar launch, why not at an awards show appearance?

Also in attendance at the Awards was Kajol, who for the evening picked Shantanu and Nikhil. Hair set in soft waves and House of Chic turquoise and gold earrings completed her look.

The earrings added a nice pop of color but the gown wouldn’t have been my first pick for Kajol. As lovely as she looks waist-up, I just can’t warm up to the ruffle detail on the gown.

Bipasha went the desi route in a blue Manish Malhotra floor-length anarkali picking one of his simpler fares but, jazzing it up with a statement kundan necklace by Maheep Kapoor.

Because the anarkali didn’t overshadow, she looked great.
