Angie’s Pashmina!

If you have been eyeing Angelina’s green shawl and wondering how to get your hands on one, you have stumbled onto the right place!

This picture above is a classic example of how a great colored shawl can transform an outfit from casual to chic!

A shawl is much bigger than a stole and can easily substitute for a light jacket. I, personally, prefer to wear shawls cuz you can remove them easily. Jackets make me feel stuffy not to mention the constant headache of putting them on and taking them off. A good pashmina is a great substitute for a light jacket during fall.

Stay warm and toasty ladies with these great options!

Building A Wardrobe For Work..

A lot of us are professional working women. We work in different environments. Some workplaces are very casual and some places are very formal. We still all need to have the following basic things in our wardrobe without question!

1. We do not get a job unless we all go through an interview process. So, the first important piece of your wardrobe needs to be a great SUIT jacket. A good classic black suit is a great way to make a first impression on your would-be employer! Since we all have different body types, definitely try a few different stores to find one that fits you just right. Don’t just go buying one because it is on sale. Big Mistake. Nothing worse than an ill-fitting suit when you are trying to make a first impression!

2 and 3. Traditionally, we always wear suits with pants, except, there is another option, the skirt. Nowadays, all suit jackets come with matching skirts and pants.

The best part of having a skirt and pants are that now you can wear them with the suit jacket for formal events and lose the jacket for a more informal setting.

When it comes to skirts, there are different fits. Some look great in a pencil skirt, while some look better with an A-line look. For pants, I totally swear by Express’ Editor pants. I can gain 10 pounds or lose 10, and they still look fantastic!

4. Every wardrobe should have a crisp white shirt! It goes with everything, even a good ol’ pair of jeans. A good tailored white shirt not only makes you look extra smart, but it can also accentuate your figure and make you look thin!

5. Another option to wear with pants or skirts is a good knit top. Its a little less casual but you can always dress it up with a pair of pearls, a scarf, or even a great brooch.

6. To finish up the clothes, always keep a cardigan close. I have heard many co-workers always complain (even during summer) about how cold it gets and then always wear an awful sweatshirt. With a cardigan at hand, you can always put it on when you are feeling chilly and not mess up your hair while putting it on.

7. Now that clothes are done, let’s move onto all our accessories starting with shoes. A good pair of black pumps are a great investment. You can wear them all the time once you find a comfortable pair with medium heels.

8. Last but not least, pair your awesome wardrobe with a great bag. Every professional woman must have one GOOD bag that you can use all the time.

To recap all the items, here is the checklist:

1. Suit Jacket (Preferably Black for a first)
2. Pencil or A-line Skirt (Depending on your body type)
3. Trousers (1 Black, 1 Gray and 1 Brown)
4. Cotton tailored shirts (Including 1 white and 1 black)
4. Knit tops (Any color)
5. Cardigan (Any color)
6. Comfortable black pumps
7. Functional work bag

What I listed are some basics that every wardrobe should have. Once you have a good basic collection (consisting of whites, blacks and browns), go ahead and delve into other colors based on the season.

As I end this post, I am attaching this other post that talks about how to accessorize with your work wardrobe. All the points it mentions are very very important! Read it here

Day 3: Grassroot by Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre’s Grassroots is apparantly a complete line of ecofriendly clothes. The collection had an extremely easy, casual-chic vibe, perfect for daywear! The tunics and dresses had dominant flower motifs, which while staying central to the theme, did not thankfully overpower the clothes…

I loved the teeming of the tunics with the capris and those simple day dresses in white with floral prints were just so youthful! And those jackets? Absolutely worked.

Day 2: Siddhartha Tytler

Siddartha Tytler’s collection was called Fusion Earth 3000 AD and had the same earthy, organic vibe that a couple of other collections had! Because of the colors used and the silhouettes in question, to me, it reminded me a bit too of the Vikram Phadnis collection! While there were many similarities, like embellished structured jackets, what stood out was the fact that while Phadnis’ collection was predominantly glam, Tytler’s collection was far more laid back and urban-casual!

The color palette was once again dominated by beiges, browns and earthy olives. Printed fabric once again made an appearance. I especially liked the sleeveless vest/jackets!

An interesting collection. Not everything worked but it had its pluses!

Excuse me.. What’s the time?

A lot of us do not pay attention to the kind of watches we wear. Picking a good watch is just about as important as buying a quality diamond. You cannot, and I cannot stress this enough, you cannot be going to work wearing too casual of a watch. And at the other end of the spectrum, wearing a flashy watch to work is an absolute NO NO!

Now, there’s Tiffanys for engagement rings, Harry Winston for diamonds, Rolls for wheels and then there are Rolexes for telling the hours! But if awareness bought ‘stuff’, I’d have a different Rolex for everyday! But since it doesn’t and I don’t..the pieces I chose make just as great first buys!

This Baume & Mercier is a great piece. The simple leather straps make it a very simple and elegant watch and it is a steal at under $1000.

Buy via Overstock

The Omega “Constellation” is a great first watch, if you have the money to spend(about $1000+). I like the simple stainless steel look, specially for someone who wears a lot of subtle jewelry. Pair this with diamond solitaire earrings and it totally transforms your look.

Buy via Amazon

Now to my favorite, the Cartier Tank Francaise is just totally out of the world in style and regretably, in price too! It retails for $3300 but can vary. Jennifer Aniston wore one with leather straps in the movie “The Break-up”. I somehow prefer the stainless steel look because it lasts longer.

Buy via Saks Fifth Avenue

I have noticed lately, time hasn’t been good to me. Its either never enough time or not ever good enough of a time! But there’s no reason why I can’t look great while telling the time! So, when someone asks you the time next, are you going to be proudly flashing your wrist?
