Of Gowns

Wearing jewel-toned evening gowns that featured cut-outs, both Nimrat and Bhumi attended a recent event in Mumbai. Can’t really say I was a fan of either gown, but Nimrat perhaps fared better in comparison; the color looked good on her! The gown’s only crime was that it looked dated!

Bhumi’s Gretel Z number however had the kitchen sink thrown at it- so many design elements and none of it did anything for the actor! The look was very reminiscent of these outings of hers, and we weren’t the biggest fans of those looks either. Ms. Pednekar sure can do better (and has), just wish she wouldn’t take “fashion” so seriously!

  1. you too, Nimrat? these cut-out gowns do nothing for anyone, they should all be burnt.
as for Bhumi, she’s been in this thirsty mode for so long, she’s now a lost cause. pity. coz her make-up is on point here.

    • I think the problem is that there is usually too much cut out – whether in number or in square footage. You can easily make a good cutout dress (Shraddha Kapoor recently wore one that has a smaller cutout and it the result was nice).

  2. Celeb (*calling xyz designer*): “Hey listen, I received the dress. But I’ve been working out a lot and my abs look fab so i’m just gonna chop off a bit on my own to show them, haan”

  3. Sometime back Jahnvi Kapoor wore a similar dress – cutout wise. There you were glad she took a risk. That post didn’t get so much of commentary from you as Bhumi ‘s. Your comments are always biased.

You give certain stars and startlets a free pass even when they wear garbage. Those who don’t, you rip them apart.

    • Not that i like Bhumis dress one bit, actress agnostic…… But the difference in why it didn’t fare as bad on jhanvi is because she has a longer torso. And that makes a huge difference. Bhumi/ Rani/Vidya/ Tisca and a few others have a short torso and these mdriff bearing cuts don’t look nice on them and give an artificial effect of stumpiness. As a DIY seamstress I know this for a fact, that’s why I’m calling it out.
But in general Bhumis choice of clothes are not nice at all and she always comes off trying too hard vs just going with the flow and her organic choices.

  4. All I can say his whoever is styling Bhumi should start looking for another job, it must be such a strain keeping up with the fashion atrocities from the B-town brigade, not all though!

  5. Nimrat’s color works for her. The gown might have looked better without that neck detail. But overall too busy and shiny for my taste.

  6. Just like PC prefers deep neck cleavage dresses, Bhumi wears dresses just to show off her toned midriff. Sigh. Boring to see her wear similar looks

  7. It’s sad to see a fantastic and pretty actress like Bhumi do this. Her outfits oflate have been disasters. Wonder who would have (if at all anyone) told Bhumi that she should dress in a “certain way” to get noticed/roles. Or is it her own brain wave!! Either ways it’s unfortunate.

  8. Remember the outfits women wore in those amar chitra comics with lot of midriff baring and hardly-there tops? These two seem to be aping that style, whatever it was.
