Anavila’s show had plenty of celebs in attendance wearing her saris. I had a few favorites (Gauri and Mounica) and some who I thought had a few missteps like Sona. I like all the elements of her outfit but didn’t like the way she draped her sari.

Catch the rest inside.

  1. Anavila is so over rated and while her linen sarees were quite refreshing a few years back amongst all the bling lehengas and sarees, now it’s just dull, drab and dated. Her designs cater to the pseudo activist/rebel/“independent woman” types in Bollywood. It’s the usual suspects who wear Anavila just like the usual suspects patronize MM/AJSK.

    • I do agree on this. It’s a respin on the already existing looms, branded better and marketed to the bw crowd to look earthy.

  2. The sarees are strictly OK. The only one I found a bit different was Monica’s.

Manasi’s pop of green contrast is interesting. But I found only Rajshree wearing it well with an easy breezy vibe.

  3. Sona and Monica pretty much wore the same way. Wonder why the love for Monica and missteps comment for Sona.

Konkana ruined a good saree with sloppy drape.

  5. It’s nice to see so many variations of sarees, I kind of love them all. But Ashwini stands out with her earthy styling, shy happy demeanour and she’s ystslly in sarees in similar looks. Gauri looks like the nri aunt waiting for valet, sona looks like her fish got stolen n she’s looking for the culprit. Rest all look damn cool

  6. On the one had, I love all the sarees and think all those featured look great. On the other hand, these are sarees that my mashi’s and I pick up from non-designer stores all the time at a fraction of the price. I struggle to see what’s “designer” about these prints. That’s also the case for most “designer” sarees and not just Anavila.
