These overly glam and curated looks to promote a movie like Chhapaak strike me as slightly unnecessary, but to each their own.
THANK YOU. This is what I’ve been trying to say and haven’t been able to properly express.
I wish we could have seen her in very normal, outfits where the promotion confused on creating more awareness of acid attacks and how victims and survivors can get help.
Nothing wrong with looking good, looking presentable but I agree, all these glam curated looks are rubbing me the wrong way.

Was thinking ditto n thankyou for putting forth in words here. I remember Aishwarya Rai dressing up in a very subdued manner during Sarbjit’s promotion. Glam looks for the promotion of a movie with strong social message somewhere dilutes its seriousness.

That’s me on a Saturday morning when it’s cold outside, I have PJs on, and have to run out to get something I forgot in my car. So I find the pair of shoes from my night out on Friday, throw on a sweater,and run out and back before the neighbors see me. And guess what? I don’t need a stylist,

Lol!! This! I an literally lounging around at home in exactly a similar monochromatic look as this! No kidding! And I didn’t even use my brain let alone a stylist! I mean what’s the point of spending money on designer wear and stylist when you can achieve the same and in some cases better result, I really have to wonder!

her eyebrows have changed completely in the last 5 years and they look tattooed on at this point — she fills them in so much. her brows look NOTHING like her brows from her debut days. and i’m not talking about a slight change — they look DRASTICALLY different.
TRUE! Her brows are naturally arched, she once mentioned that since her features are sharp, her brows need to be rounded (seriously!) and to top it all, she brags about doing her brows all by herself. Gorgeous face bad styling..smh

not talking about “bold” or thick or filled in brows. her brows have changed ENTIRELY in shape. it’s more rounded and arched now. back in the day, more of a straight line, no arch. that’s why she needs to fill them in so much, to create a brow line that doesn’t actually exist.

I feel like she knows exactly what she’s doing with these looks. Look at the history on HHC, her posts get the most comments of all. Publicity.
Cause it’s only Deepika and Sonam always into gimmicky clothing passed off as high fashion.
With all due respect, I am not sure aiming for the most comments on HHC or dressing in character truly needs to align with the message of the movie. I am seeing her looks as a promotional exercise wanting to talk about her work in a movie with a social message and the bigger message of the movie is life does not stop for anyone in the “face of trauma” to glorify the resilience of the human spirit. So I think it is a conscious decision for her and her stylist to dress as the heart desires. But making a supermodel cum popular actress look her absolute worst is criminal! She is starting to look like Shaleena…Please check out Shaleena’s pics on Instagram and they share similar physical attributes and now seem like twins when dressed up…Shouldn’t a stylist be able to preserve individuality? This look as someone mentioned above is passable compared to her other ones and the make up is definitely improved (jinx is active, her next look we dont know what will happen).
i dont think this is a glam look. just a monochromatic look that looks sweet. stop beating her up.
this is horrifically bad. that shade of pepto bismol pink is gag-inducing and the whole monochrome by using different shades of the same color is hard to pull off. again and again, her stylist sabotages her. i don’t care how ‘high-fashion’ or whatever her “sensibility” is, but Shaleena needs to go. but she does not deserve all the blame here. Deepika has a mind or her own, right? can she not say to no to some of these ridiculous outfits that her stylist is putting together for her? or does she not have a sense of style of her own AT ALL? it’s getting comical at this point. a simple white shirt, blue denims and tan accessories would be a one million % improvement on these recent disasters for the movie promotion.
Can we pray she goes back to Anaita, please? As Bsimple mentioned, this is Shaleena walking in Deepika’s body. Deepika please don’t do this to yourself especially since you are a superstar now.
Okay first off, this definitely aint a 10/10 look by any measure. But, I have to add, this looks very comfortable. And if you ignore the whole ‘movie promotion has to be done in character’ notion, she does look nice. The pink pops against the flashbulbs here but is a lot nicer in better lighting.
Shaleena is not my favorite, but i am noticing (esp. in these comments) that everyone has their idea of a perfect DP look which she isn’t delivering and causing anger. She has done denim and white shirts a million times and it was then also called curated, she has gone uber glam and also was called too much. She is trying different things and is bound to fail. We criticize for out-of-the-box and also for being safe, for being too rich and in-your-face or too-simple-for-the-event or being safe and repeating and also for trying new things that doesn’t appeal to everyone.
For everything, except a well-draped sari.
I can’t believe her skin tone now is as light as the sweater she is wearing now. It’s a shame because she had the most gorgeous skin tone and she could have made a case for dusky can be beautiful without even doing anything. This hypocrisy along with trying-hard sartorial choices she has been making lately makes me sad.

It’s the fabrics of the pant that doesn’t work with the sweater. A blush leather or Velvet pants with the sweater are more apt. Her top and bottom are in different seasons..

Monochrome in different shades and textures is exciting when done well. Sadly these two shades of pink don’t go well together. Priyanka’s pink was nicer, Priyanka’s blush and lip color tied the look well. Deepika is looking sallow.
I honesty do not see much of Emilia W in this outfit, it just as could be any brand. But, can we please talk about how light skinned Deepika has become . Atleast, for this movie, I wish she stayed true to her real skin colour, given the subject and protagonist of the movie. Its like the elephant in the room, especially when millions of young girls follow these and the underlying message is that the skin colour you are born with isn’t as beautiful. Its also double standard to see a Priyanka getting dragged for a light foundation, while the tone for Deepika is often that with her face, she could wear a sack. I’m not pitting one against the other, but just how biased we are when we had out a pass for the same things that we call out others on.
She started off with chunky silver earrings and sweater half tucked in the pants…that looked so much more polished. I guess by the end she got rid of the tuck in and the earrings…still best among her looks for this promotion run
I feel the stylists in Mumbai are somehow not clothes ready for winters up north. And that is such a shame. They can take cue from how PC dresses for chilly NY weather. Boots, capes, jackets, turtle necks mufflers , winter specific textiles are not very hard to find,look trendy and keep you warm.
I cant understand why is she not firing Shaleena. You dont deserve this type of styling Deepika.
All i feel is, many of our beloved female celebrities are slaves of their so called stylists.. such a pathetic situation to see..sigh

Some of the late 80s/ early 90s’ more restrained styles (think Tina Munim or Sridevi in Lamhe) are trending and its a breath of fresh air really, who wouldn’t be thrilled?
But really sad the stylist has made a hash of look that had so much potential.
