In Louis Vuitton

Deepika’s second outing on the red carpet was in a custom Louis Vuitton gown. Her wearing LV isn’t a surprise given her announcement as an ambassador. What is a surprise though that given all the resources that LV has, a peplum gown is all that they came up with for the statuesque Ms. Padukone. Color us unimpressed with the gown. As for Deepika, she still worked the heck out of the gown.

  1. Ooof she was on such a roll too. This is nice but nothing too wow for me because it almost doesn’t seem like LV. The silhouette and the color both seem a bit too familiar.

  2. Agree with your comments, but at the same time I am also happy to see her in an easy on the eyes look and not the over-experimental eye makeups or this green monstrosity https://www.highheelconfidential.com/deepika-padukone-in-giambattista-valli-at-cannes-2019-pain-and-glory-screening/

That being said echoing the sentiments from previous looks, there is something off with her make up. her makeup is looking oily and tired, may be its the summer heat but then thats what makeup artists are here for. What’s MUA doing.

  3. Actually she does well in simple structured silhouettes so better to stick to what works and what she is obviously comfortable in, Her make up has been atrocious so far, can’t believe the MUA is getting that wrong for all the looks consecutively.

  4. This isn’t a particularly novel look but given that in the past when she’s tried to go different, she’s gone completely overboard, I feel like this a good look for Cannes. She looks striking, powerful and the silhouette suits her. Simple and classic movie star glamour which I’d rather see than raccoon eyes or frills that span the length of the red carpet…

  5. Love the color and it fits her like a glove. A classy dress though not much dramatic. I didn’t like it in the beginning but has grown on me.

    • Tbh Cannes has always been about glamour and not high fashion so I think this is her most on point look there yet. That said of course there are still makeup/hair/fit issues so it’s not a perfect 10.

On LV, this is going to be an unfortunate collaboration for DP because they are definitely not known for their red carpet gowns – in fact they’re almost always uninspired and boring.

  6. I mean, red dresses have changed careers. Think Jennifer Lawrence in 2011 in Calvin Klein or even Leslie Jones in that Christian Siriano gown at the Ghostbusters premiere. This is so utterly forgettable.

  7. She looks good. If LV had gotten rid of the front portion of the peplum, the gown would have been fab. The makeup is a bit off though.

  8. I think she looks lovely. Every look doesn’t have to be theatrical. The dress is gorgeous and the color is fabulous. Her hair could be better

  9. Slay, Queen. She looks amazing. I like this better than the dress+ umbrella/lampshade contraption that Aishwarya wore.

  10. Her hair color changed. And I am little old school – there is messy and there is messy. Her hair and make up are in the wrong direction of messy. Honestly, I did not find a single look of Deepika or Aishwariya a fashionably high moment.

  11. Don’t care for the bad quality hair extensions, but she looks good. I like the dress and the make up is an improvement

  12. After seeing some of the make up at cannes over the years, I can tell you that even a local Mac or Sephora artist here can do a better job.

    • Oh my God.. what observation skills.. the dress is very tight .. if you zoom in , you can see the straps tearing into her skin even making it red .. looks so uncomfortable.. you cannot unsee what you see on her shoulders.. poor celebrities have to wear such crazy tight clothes for a few million bucks.. must be so difficult:)

  14. Striking although the gown is nothing great to write home about. Her makeup is making her look tired in all her pictures. Her makeup looks like it has bled under the heat.

  15. Gorgeous colour! Not a fan of peplums but Deepika does wonders to the outfit. Quite like her hair do too. Would have looked even better with some more accessorisation

  16. One reason for a less dramatic fashion choice could be that jury members have a different brief. Had she been walking for her cosmetic brand endorsement, she could have gone big because that is what Cannes is about.

  17. It’s not about the dress — it’s what you do with it. And Deepika’s working the heck out of everything she’s wearing.
As for people commenting she looks tired/her eyes look tired… well, she’s there to do a job, not chill on holiday or promote a movie poster.

  18. I’m just wondering if the weather is too hot there. Deepika’s makeup is not doing her any favors. Looks oily or looks like she’s sweaty. Such a pity. She’s a beautiful gal!

  19. Striking red colour but peplum needs to go as a design. A lot of people commenting on how she looks tired. My question is whether your makeup can hide your tiredness and if you are not allowed to look tired now?

  20. I love the dress….She looks great but i do not like that red/orange nail polish….She needs to shape her nails, make it bit shorter. probably using normal nail polish as she have changed few times

  21. She looks striking in the gown. The fabric and color of the gown looks phenomenal. Would have looked smashing without the peplum detail.

That said, there are some glaring issues with this look. The gown is a bit too snug on her making it painful to look at. Her make up has been a failure from the start, except the Sabya trousers-shirt look. The attempt at making her look browner than she is is not going down well. Hence the tired/oily/sweaty look. It is just too much bronzing and contouring. The styling of the gown is nothing great either.

Overall she could have done so so much better!

  22. In all her Cannes appearances, I haven’t particularly liked her makeup. Something is off. Hair, dress, overall look – all great; makeup’s a let down – she’s been looking tired and unwell
