WLIFW Spring 2013: Kavita Bhartia

While some pieces worked, the collection wasn’t much to write home about. Does anyone else feel as though over the past few seasons, the designer has lost her mojo? The last time I really loved Kavita Bhartia’s work was her Fall 08 presentation. It’s been a while since.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Atsu

Atsu’s was one of the strongest collections of the day. Young, chic and so fresh. Which reminds me… While referring to Carven as Fresh, Guillaume Henry (of Carven) elaborated on Fresh being not the question of age, but a question of identity in an interview. Perfectly put, don’t you think? And quite apt for Atsu too.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Rohit Gandhi And Rahul Khanna

Another strong collection from the designer duo. Loved it. Tasteful embellishment, texture-rich and chic silhouettes.

You just know the stylists are scrambling to get outfits put on hold for their clients. The centre dress with cut-outs in Row One has Poorna’s name practically written all over it!

WLIFW Spring 2013: Surily

Aztec prints, pops of neon, beaded/embellished pieces and fringe accents, Surily’s latest showing had ’em all. With its easy jumpsuits, dresses and separates, the collection is sure to be a favorite among the designer’s many celebrity friends.

While the collection was very commercial, it also felt hugely derivative of what’s already out there. The embellished aztec prints hint at All Saints, the tassel hem brings to mind Opening Ceremony, the fringe on printed dresses reminds one of Missoni and the chain-embellished tops say Malandrino. Just saying.

WLIFW Spring 2013: Kiran Uttam Ghosh

Asymmetrical hemlines, sparkle and layers. Kiran Uttam Ghosh presented a collection rich in silhouettes she is best known for. My favorites were the two saris/sari-inspired looks in Row One.
