Sari Style

Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla saris for the ages! Between the classic drape and then right down to the other end of the spectrum, a contemporary twist on the sari and its drape, whose look do you find yourself gravitating to the most?

  1. Didn’t like anybody’s saree. Asha Parekh’s saree is just about okay. Pinky Reddy’s dupatta looks cheap and an unnecessary addition. Way too much happening with Isha’s blouse and saree. One element should have been kept simple for the other to stand out. Her saree’s tassels look like those big beaded curtains. Delicate ones would have looked way nicer.

  2. So after that completely unnecessary, drawn out discussion of pallu drapes, no one is going to fault this monstrosity here? I mean, I don’t even notice that style of drape that was so criticised on Alia until pointed out. It flies quite close to the traditionally draped sari, and doesn’t look as bad as this ‘top on a glorified lungi’. Others like Mira Kapoor have also sported it. Shilpa, too. I get fusion saris, but this is just an eyesore. Alia’s was such a subtle drape style that it flew well under the radar. Sometimes, it is poorly done. When it first started popping up, it looked hideous. But Alia’s recent drape wasn’t so.

    • No, that monstrosity is an AJSK creation. I see why you would think its an MM, but there was a whole splash about this saree and Isha. I really like Isha and how she has come into her own. She needs to ditch these big bollywood designers and find the really good ones out there. She can definitely do better.
