Quite a downer from her black suit appearance – The top is not nice or it needed carefully-chosen jewellery to go with it.
What an inappropriate choice of outfit given the venue. If you can’t respect the local customs then don’t go. Now bring on the haters.
I hear what you’re saying. But then does it mean as women, instead of challenging these completely bigoted, patriarchal and anachronistic ‘customs’, we should keep pandering to them? How will anything change if we keep reinforcing the worst kind of rules in the garb of customs or traditions?
There are many patriarchic customs being followed including by Alia..and by BW in their movies.. if this is a start sartorially, let’s hope it extends to other walks of life
Completely agree. And I’m not even saying Alia wore this to challenge any form of patriarchy, was just a fashion choice for her. This isn’t about my Alia. This is about us imposing these customs on women & judging them for digressing even slightly from them. I mean, this really isn’t even skin show as such, it’s just bare shoulders. This isn’t crass like bras and bralettes. Limited point.

It’s a casual fit.. n the colour washes her out
This is the second time that she’s gone bare shoulders in the middle east. It’s extremely strange and clueless. She’s worn fabulous trouser suits in India. She should have worn one here.
Love the top but the pants are not a good choice. Looks unfinished and incomplete without a belt and a bit too casual for the occasion. Also feel like she’s overexposed. Tired of seeing her on these pages everyday meh
