Wearing saris, both Alia and Rekha attended a recent Awards event in Mumbai. While Rekha stuck to her signature style, Alia’s look sure did make for a welcome change of pace. Perhaps not everyone is going to be taken by Alia’s blouse, but having seen back-to-back itty bitty blouses, hers was refreshing. Not a fan of the sheer panel on the sleeve, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me. The ladies looked lovely!

Both look gorgeous.. it’s like a old world meets new way of styling sarees.. the draping on Rekha is grand and elegant.. Alia looks cute and her make up is lovely, minimal.. maybe Rekha could tone down her make up.. or the blush.

Nitpick: the sleeve on Alia’s blouse could’ve been a bit more fitted. Currently it looks more like t shirt sleeve.
Biased much! Similar blouse on Shweta B was a deal breaker.
It is almost like the one-boob drape is the lawful way of saree draping and covering both boobs is only for 70+ women ! why!!!
Also am pretty sure, Alia being a new mom, with the body changes just wore this normal blouse (in her mind she thought may be thats what would suit now).. within no time she will get back to the bra blouses.
She recently wore a lovely and event appropriate sleeveless blouse at the wedding reception of Sid and Kiara.
So you can be sure she doesn’t stick to this formula.
There is always a one boob comment.
It is not a new style, old movies also have it. In any case how is this different from wearing a similar top with jeans.
And why not a “bra” blouse? Most of what we wear today would be inner wear before (like banian or tshirt as it is now) so why the dislike of poor bras!
Really, please free the saree from being “traditional”!!
Alia’s saree is beautiful and she looks stunning. Natural, polished and well put together.
The gold reflecting off Rekha’s saree shows what a beautiful saree it is. Its like liquid gold. I wish she didnt stick borders these nice sarees.
Rekha always wins the fashion game with saree and signature style.

They both look lovely…. Always a fan of Rekha. And Alia, love the way she carries herself. Never pandering to Bollywood trends and yet commands respect and love!

The sheer panel seems chikankari but I am not certain.
Rekha looks gorgeous. Alia’s muted appearance is more a yawn compounded by show one boob inane drape.
hate the one boob draping and how is this better than the itsy bitsy blouses. it’s meant to draw attention as well.

Alia’s blouse looks frumpy. Tired of seeing Rekhaji doing the same thing over and over again.

Alia’s falling drape (so eloquently described above) feels plain lazy/shabby to me. But it’s favored by so many Bollywood stars… so, that’s that!
Alia looks pretty but the saree and blouse look badly draped and messy. The silver border also makes it look so cheap. The ill-fitted blouse only adds to the frumpy look. And don’t get me started on the forced one boob drape. I saw a video in which she forcefully adjusts the drape that way and it just looks so bad. Doesn’t help that Rekha looks magnificent without even trying hard. Not a fan of Alia’s over-highlighted face to give her this extra radiant glow effect.
it takes guts to pose with rekha, i’ll give alia points for that. but neither her youth nor her (relative) freshness actually does her favors next to the eternal rekha, so sure, so self-possessed, still completely owning the cameras after 50-odd years.
the white washes out alia and makes her look tired (and don’t give me new mum bs), the blouse is awful with those transparent panels and SO ill-fitting, the saree itself nondescript. she’s a meh at best.
