The ‘Pink Panther’ Effect?

Comment image 82

First, it was the pink sari (see here) and now the pink sweatsuit. What is with the new pink obsession, Ash?

Now, a sweatsuit is something we would not be caught dead in while travelling and definitely not in a color like this! Oh Ash. Not you too!

P.S. Ash is carrying a Pauric Sweeney bag.

  2. I dont think theres anything wrong with sweats when travelling.
I think its best to dress down and be comfortable but velour fabric/juicy couture…ewwwww..sorry that is just plain old tacky!

  3. Or is it the barbie effect (or nightmare ?)…I heard mattel is releasing a barbie based on her.
If she is wearing this while traveling by air (~30 hours), I won’t blame her.

  4. For a flight from Delhi to Mumbai (2 hrs) in an executive class.. .. how uncomfortable are those flights that u need to wear something like this ????

  5. aiyoooooo….ammma…
She would definitely gather some attention with this one..the WRONG kind of attention!!!…this Pink is soooo PINK! And the fact that its velour just makes it worse.

  6. they are common in the US, but that doesn’t make them acceptable. like the others, i agree that it’s alright to wear sweats while traveling on a long flight, but not THESE. she looks like she’s a walking bottle of pepto bismol.

  7. tie up the hair.. and a better color – maybe she wud have looked better.. remember karishma in half sleeve sweats.. it looked nice..

but why not wear a simple cotton salwar kameez.. maybe because I live outside india.. i just think wearin a nice cotton suit..esp in april weather is just perfect!

  8. @ zee, that would be really cool if mattel was to make a barbie of ash.

i don’t understand why famous people go out in public in tracksuits. if they do, at least they should stick to juicy couture.

  9. I wear a lot of sweat suits for long flights..but in black, navy and brown.
i think it’s the best thing one could wear. But yes, i would not wear such a bright colour.
Payal, what would you wear for your travels?? am really curious to know

  10. maybe she wants to be comfortable travelling….i think its totally fine…given the amount of travelling these stars do even first class…..it gets tiring and you want to be comfy….totally okay

  11. @ zee
Mattel is not making a barbie based on Ash its on Katrina Kaif.
I dont think there is anything wrong the way she is dressed..only looks a bit tired/sleepy. I would prefer Shilpa’s red TS over this color though

  12. Farah,
The timestamp is according to current US Central time. As, for what I wear, I tend to wear lightweight pants like linen. Denims don’t work for me because I get too hot in them.

  13. Well, I don’t think I’ve worn a pair of sweatpants since I was 12, but I don’t think it’s a totally bad thing to wear while you’re on the move…they’re comfortable, and you’ve got to be comfortable on a long flight! Now, what bugs me the most about this ensemble- save for the Pepto Pink- is that she’s wearing what’s probably an expensive bag, AND METALLIC FLATS! Or whatever those things are supposed to be…horrendous!

  14. I hate how this lady is always put on such a high pedestal, that even when she’s traveling people gotta critique and nitpick her style. She looks good and put together…something that alot of ladies you post on here lack!

  15. i’ve got the same pink jacket but i wear them witha light grey cotton sweatpants….and i wear them when i’m at home when entertaining people! they maybe comfy but so are light cotton trousers or skirts with a plain tshirt. i would never be caught wearing loungewear in public…and ash always had an image of grace (in terms of fashion)…why this hiphop?

  16. I really dont like the color of the sweat suit but I think they are made to wear while traveling.I mean everyone wants to be comfortable when they travel so y should celebs have to give up their comfort to look like they are going to a red carpet event. I still think the color could have been better.

  17. At one time, people used to dress up for plane flights. I can understand that you want to be comfortable if you’re flying coach and are sandwiched between a billion people in an uncomfortable seat, but when you’re (most likely) flying in first/business class, flights, regardless of length, are pretty damn comfortable! It’s easy to dress casually and comfortably, but still look presentable. But a baby pink velour suit? What blashpemy, especially paired with such a delicious bag! Aishwarya, with her naturally gorgeous face, should have an easier time than most people when it comes to looking casual. A white tee, some dark jeans, and comfy flats, and she’d still look better than most of the world’s population!

  18. Many people do wear these while just running errands or on flights. The color IS pretty on her, and i think her hair looks fine! Aishwarya is adorable.

  19. Was this in India? She must be boiling hot in that velvety sweatsuit! There are hundreds of comfortable things to wear when traveling (cotton tops, tunics etc)…why someone would bury themselves under that thick synthetic material is beyond me.

  20. I like to give the benefit of doubt to women when it comes to traveling excessively and long flights. Trust me its no fun and some times you get so fed up of high end dresses and suits that even when the occasion doesn’t call it, you just feel like putting on a comfortable a pair of sweat pants! So…yea. Ash looks purty.

  21. hmmm… does anyone remember kareena wearin somethin similar? but in a darker shade yeah its true…tooo much of pink Ash…though ‘pink is my favourite color’…

  22. kimmy, i noticed the flats too, but didn’t say anythign because thought they might be metallic sneakers. which opens up a whole other can of worms.

about the sweats, i would definitely never wear a sweatsuit, even while traveling. sweatpants with a tshirt or another top, but definitely not matching pants and top. it just looks so tacky. very 5th grade. and definitely not the velvety stuff that juicy couture makes. i don’t get what the big deal with juicy couture sweats is, i find them very ghetto.

payal, linen pants are comfy, but aren’t you afraid of them getting all creased on the plane?

  23. i think sweats are great for traveling… unlike Posh who looks like she stepped out of a designer wardrobe everytime she travels with killer heels and all. So I’d have to disagree with you on this P&P. I think the sweats are great, but I hate the color.

  25. OMG this is so tacky….I don’t ever wanna get caught wearing something like this. There is so much choice for casual stuff great for traveling…Juicy Couture is tacky that’s all I gotta say….On top of that she has matching top & bottom. I am sorry I won’t even put that on my daughter even though she loves pink….

  27. Since I’m not a fan of sweatsuits, I don’t like this look. Although Aishwarya does look beautiful in her casual wear.

I wish she would go back to her old travel uniform of jeans and a white shirt. I do recall some people calling that outfit boring. lol

  29. @Coconut:huh?really?Not one celeb including Kareena and Shilpa Shetty got positive reviews for wearing these tracks on this site. Poor Manisha and Nandita were literally torn apart for wearing this style.People are actually being much nicer to Ash here. She does look very tired and un-celeb like.I am sure there are many good-looking and fashionable women writing on this blog and your comments are totally unwarranted for

  30. I often travel on long haul flights — 18 or more hours, and even in business class will wear sweats. It is often freezing in planes and I dont always want to use the blanket — who knows who used it before and in these bleak economic times, if it was even cleaned! Regardless of what class you are travelling in, flying is tiring — if i am in business and can lay down and sleep, I certainly down want to be stuck in a pair of jeans.

  31. Give Ash a break. For God’s sake, we all know she’s a gorgeous Desi sister. I’ve traveled in sweat suits. Her hair is disheveled, but she’s a beauty.

I think to clarify COCOnut’s remarks, when she mean’t ‘you’, she mean’t people we feature on the site. The remark was not directed towards the commentators.

  33. Payal, I agree that the color is absolutely horrendous…but I agree with the majority of the crowd here that sweats are the most comfortable thing to wear while traveling. Wearing linen pants or dressing up to go board a plane might be a trend in India where travel time is not more than 3-4 hrs… but in the US (if you include the delays) it can be anywhere from 6-10 hrs. Anyhow, point is.. fashion schmashion can go to the dogs because sweats make life easy!

  34. This is not in relation to this post, but do you think that celebs in India wear clothes/boots etc that are fashionable to wear in other countries, like the US, UK etc (where the weather can be such that wearing such stuff is reasonable along with fashionable) but totally inappropriate for the Indian climate esp Mumbai just to look cool. Anyone agree with me?

  35. @P: Don’t get me wrong. But Nandita/Manisha were going to some premiere/or party..if memory serves me right. So how does the comparison work ..when Ash’s in sweats for a flight travel. Pliss to enlighten. 🙂

  36. it’s absolutely fine for travel. and it’s not too hot for indian weather.. bcoz cars/airports/flights are all air conditioned, aren’t they?

    in jeans
NOWW there is no way in hell that I’ll travel in anything other than sweats (althugh I have ALWAYS HATED VELOUR-or any other kind of-TRACK SUITS)
some harem pants, a tank and a wool/cotton jacket would be nice
not a good color with her skin, and the lip gloss is
    T-A-C-K-Y

I wear my ann taylor striped pants which are silk lined dark colored so I can be comfy and a black top with a jacket and flats v comfy – they dont crease are soft n super comfy and I look put tohether….

  40. Like I always say…one doesnt need to follow ‘trends’ blindly………..’gym clothes’ are best worn at the gym….Ash’s whole getup looks downright stupid !!!!!!!!!
A pair of jeans with comfy cotton shirt would have been as comfortable plus would have gone well with that bag Ash is carrying..

  41. Saya,I was just refering to the style and the comments that Ash is always being nitpicked on.Bad fashion sense is bad fashion sense.I hate it when people say that she is being criticized because she is Ash.Sweats are fine for travel but a Delhi to Mumbai flight in business class and that COLOR?no way!

  42. @AA – I agree! At some point Aishwarya used to wear knee-high boots (with skinny jeans tucked in) – trendy in certain parts of the world but in the sweltering heat of Mumbai??!

  43. IMO, there’s nothing wrong with her wearing sweats while traveling. It’s not like she was going to a premiere/bash dressed in that like Nandita and Manisha did. So, I really don’t understand why she should be critiqued so severely for choosing comfort over fashion in a situation where she isn’t *trying* or even expected to make a fashion statement.

That said, the color is blinding.

  44. Sweats for travel is fine, but preferably in a darker colour. Ash doesn’t look bad, but she shouldn’t have worn that pink. She may have a lot of clothes from her Pink Panther tour that are of this colour.

  45. I think track suits are fine for long-haul travel – don’t get crumpled, stretch for allowing one to put one’s legs up, can be easily machine washed on reaching destination – they tick a lot of boxes. The hot pink is another story altogether…but if that’s floating her boat so be it!

  46. Travelling in sweat pants is crazy! Those are for lounging or for the gym or exercise related work. The idea is to wear something airy and comfy and usually cotton is the best material not velour and def not this color!

  47. I think she looks fine except for shoes.. velour is fine for travel.. linen will crumple so much that when u get off the plane.. one might end up looking too crumpled.

  50. i just read an interview with manish malhotra this morning on rediff where he said he is developing a line of ‘glamorous sweatpants’ that women can wear at formal occassions…someone lock this man up pronto so we don’t have a slew of bollywood celebs in velvet/velour sweats at red carpet events!!!

    Reply
  51. kahlu i’m sure she only flew from delhi to mumbai….now as far as personal experiennce goes, neither of these places are cold enough to justify velour sweats! if she was travelling for a longer period of time its fine, however as was said about bebo when she wore her sweats, they should only be worn for the duration of the flight, not in publkic, if it was a matter of comfort.

    AA,
i second you, it truly amazes me, some of these stars wear long cardigans and (UGG) boots in indian weather! all in the name of fashion eh…
