Quite A Turnaround

August 19th, 2008 at 8:16 pm . by payal

Yukta has made many appearances on this site and most of them for the wrong reasons but today we have to admit that she has pretty much got everything right with this ensemble.

Check out more ladies sporting the white and gold Anarkali here.

what’s wrong guys…cant u see the obvious WTHeyy?? the bust line is very unflattering

  2. By: Reshma

    Creme and gold.. winner combo!

  3. deewani,
The bust line is high but overall effect of this anarkali compared to her many ghastly appearances is a giant step forward… And I did say ‘pretty much got everything right’…

i agree the bustline is WAYY off. the fit of the suit makes her look kind of fat… and she def. is not in reality. a much better effort than her past disasters though..

  5. By: lolita

She looks like she just landed from Mars or something…wayyyy offf!

  6. By: sunny

    I think she looks lovely.

the dress is beautiful…….but she looks huge, doesn she or is it jus me??

  8. By: Preeti

she looks pregnant. so fat. but in principle, i love the white n gold combination.

i am not loving the look because of the shiny face.. the anarkali is alrite..

  10. By: Divia

OMG…Is that a human????SHe looks huge and v v awful..It would have been awesome if she were a few inches shorter

  11. By: Nidhi

she finally does look great - gotta give it to her!

  12. By: Neha

    dint like it…..

  13. By: Adit

She is huge, she was 6′1 inches even when she won Miss India, thats why she could not make it in films, tooo tall, taller than Zulfi and Aftab for sure. Never got any more offers. Lovely face, huge body. Hemant whipped her into shape for Miss World, but thats that.

  14. By: FARAH

she needs to go to dr.davre and loose 10 kgs like RIGHT NOW…..

I am not really able to pinpoint what it is that makes her look a bit odd..is it the body, the fit, or this kind of dress in general. I am not sure. I have felt this way even when she wore other outfits…i shd check the pics again to confirm. I feel she needs to experiment with different styles that fit her body better. I like the beautiful combo of colors but the look just doesn’t do it for me on her.

GOD! May be the dress is good according to the color combinations n stuff… but doesnt she look weird??? may be its just the pic but if y’all are judging only by the pic…then it HAS to be a wtheyyy!! She’s looking like she’s participated in a fancy dress competition…

I liked her in the pink anarkali better. This suit is not fitting her well

Fashionwise, ’tis time for anarkali to go into oblivion..why did this unflattering tent come back in the first place? IMHO i feel only slim and tall women can carry off this garb..even on them, it is not exactly a showcase worthy style…

  19. its a lovely outift - but the bustline is too high and the kurta too long.

  20. By: dahlia noir

    I want one !

  21. By: Meghna

Sorry, even this outfit is a no-go. I agree it is much better than some of her previous efforts but she can’t get a pass for the gaffe with the bust-line. C’mon, this girl has been a public figure for close to 10 yrs now!

  22. By: Soniya

Not liking it. It is just too much fabric and Yukta is a tall girl, so it looks even more overpowering.

  23. By: malini

HORRIBLE AS ALWAYS.. i can’t see what are you guys talking about.. SHE NEEDS TO QUIT making public appearances

  24. By: Prem Rogue

It’s too long…one should be able to see at least a little of the churidar underneath…otherwise it just looks like a blingy nightgown.

I agree with the person who said that the Anarkali style needs to go back to the fashion closet. Every where I go I see this style in the shops, at parties, at weddings and like the dreaded skinny jeans it suits very few body shapes. It’s empire line and flowing top half makes everyone apart from the very slim look gargantuan - the churidar pajama does nothing for the calves and the fact that it supposed to be worn with a longer than average top makes most women look dumpy.
In my opinion it suits only two types of women - either the very slim and tall or the petite and very slim(operative word being slim) - if your average sized with a healthy set of boobs it will make you look like your pregnant, if your on the larger side - forget it unless you want to look twice your size- ditto to the women who are neither fat nor busty but happen to err on the “big boned” side then it will just make you look like a man in drag. As an aside those sandals make her feet look huge.

the entire outfit is odd looking

  27. By: mia

agree with the opinion that the anarkali style should be retired. it was interesting for a while but it suits very few women. i’ve only seen tabu and dia mirza carry it off well. us mere mortals look ridiculous in it.

i think the problem is the closed neck and long sleeves - on a tall woman like Yukta, these little details can make her look huge!! A wide, open neck and short sleeves, with a slightly shorter kurta would have made this outfit look better on her…
