Sari Style

I love Pratima Gaurav’s saris and so was easy for me to gravitate to Chitrangada’s look. Minus the unsightly spots (on the sari), Ms. Singh looked nice!

Between Chitrangada and Shriya (in Manish Malhotra) whose look are you gravitating to?

  1. Ms Singh any day.
Shriya looks tacky (read cheap) wearing anything, not sure if its the makeup, the hairstyle, her choice of colors and fabrics, or her posey pose – OR all of the above.

Yup, Ms Singh ANY day. She’ll walk away with the honors while she even sports a plain ol Tshirt

  2. Between the two ladies with the prominent one boob show, i will still pick Shriya. Even if we overlook the stains, Chitrangda still comes out looking messy with those platform pumps, her hair and make up.

  3. i dont what this “half boob show” gripe on this website is about. ridiculous. a saree can be worn and interpreted in a million ways/styles and thats why its so versatile.

i actually would pick shriya saran here. Im a huge fan of chitrangada singh ofcourse but im quite amazed frankly at how someone up against her on a face off is actually holding up so well. shriya saran is a gorgeous gorgeous woman, and she’s looking fabulous there. id pick the latter’s saree. and i think shriya would look equally lovely in that one.

  4. Neither. I don’t like the blouse on Singh, hate the stains…sweat stains esp and those shoes dont go with it. Shriya, plain tacky!!!

  5. What is with Shriya’s arched back-stuck out posterior pose? Looks as tacky as the saree. I don’t know why people pay huge sums of MM sarees.
Also, with everyone else on the one boob show. There are, yes, many ways to drape a saree – this isn’t one of them. This is not being a prude, this is being sartorially correct. A saree is meant to have a pallu of a certain minimum length, it’s supposed to cover your feet without being too long and it’s meant to cover both boobs. Not too much to ask for.
Like Chitrangada, but i do wonder how she managed to stain it. And even if it was before the event and she could do nothing about it, I wish she’d not worn the pallu open that way.
Both girls are dusky – wish they wouldn’t cake their skin so. Pity.

Seriously? says who? i dont believe there is a big sacred book about pallu lengths. culturally speaking, it varies according to context – if you look at oriya tribal women for instance, they wear it very differently than say usha uthup or whoever is the urban elites’ idea of the saree god. actually, there were never meant to be “shoulds”. such a rigid word!

and what is with everyone in fashion blogs totally overusing the word “sartorial” these days. it doesnt make your sentence more credible you know. :p
