OMG…she has put on so much of weight…

  2. Surbhi at | | Reply

add to that tacky hair! what is she upto nowadays?

  3. Flower Power at | | Reply

The southern film industry? Maybe that’s what’s beckoning…

I don’t think she looks fat. Maybe she has a little extra junk in the trunk that I can kind of see.

I don’t think the outfit itself is that bad. Desi clothes are usually bright as it is. But this is not loud or gaudy and the embroidery is not over the top. I am sure lots of us have similar outfits in our closets, like it or not!

I actually don’t think it’s that bad..maybe get rid of the cheap bangles but other than that most Indian/non-Indian guys would dig this look. As far as her putting on too much weight — ugh if that’s fat, I don’t want to know what I am. Then again, I’m thinking that comment was from someone who was born/raised in India given how easily people like that spit out their feelings on others’ weight when they themselves need to work on that tummy. :/ Disappointing…

I am actually liking the outfit here, even though it is nothing extraordinary. I don’t like the hair and makeup though.

Apart from her bangles and the neck-embroidery, i think its an ok outfit. Not red carpet material obviously, but ok for a regular day in the life of a semi-celeb…

oh comeon “not a sheep”… what do u mean by someone who is “born” or “raised” in INDIA and that is why they easily comment on someone’s weight.. i mean what’s wrong if ppl think she’s looking fat?? We’re here to discuss about what a person is wearing and whether it does or not compliment that person’s body type and i think ur just way 2 frustrated about ur own weight and just bcz ur fat doesnt mean ppl arent supposed to voice their opinions about someone’s looks… I mean thts just plain ridiculous.. and how sure are u whether this person who commented on her weight needs to work on her tummy?? phew

That’s a pretty outfit! Not digging the hairstyle but the rest is nice.

She does look like she’s out of a saas-bahu soap. And she makes that usually gorgeous Ritu Kumar bag look soooooooooooo bad.

  11. Juhi at | | Reply

P&P – The outfit looks like its by Ritu Kumar too.?? I agree with you, she looks bad. It would be ok in a family wedding I guess but not in an electronics shop.

  12. Jigisha at | | Reply

I dont think its as bad as portrayed. The outfit itself is nice and enough without the jewelery or the clutch.

  13. dn at | | Reply

Same here. Decent dress, bad make-up and accessories.

  14. Not a sheep at | | Reply

umm..how do you know she has “junk in the trunk” when you can’t even *see* her trunk? :/

man, women are so easy to judge the looks of another woman–it stems from their own inherent insecurity. If I don’t have anything nice to say, I rarely say anything at all. I wish women would be more about comradarie and less about competition. What a world it would be then..what a world it would be..ah, wishful thinking.

I don’t mind the outfit at all. But then, she doesn’t look like a Miss India either. Just a normal gal, going about. Wish she would lose the tacky bangles and the bag/clutch. But work on the makeup and hair would have catapulted this look to chic in a jiffy.

I agree with ‘Not a Sheep’ above. And to ‘Flower Power’s’ comment: At least the movies from the south have more substance than most b-wood movies.

  17. lolita at | | Reply

Me too! I love the salwar but I think she just has not carried it well. The bangles and hairstyle is making it look worse!

  18. kannu at | | Reply

i think d suit is fine but d clutch is really tacky !!!!!!!

  19. sim at | | Reply

I agree the outfit is not that bad, minus the clutch, bangles and the work around the neck and bad hair, so its the over all package making the outfit look bad not the outfit making her look bad. And I also agree that she is not fat

  20. Nadia at | | Reply

I actually like her outfit a lot. The things ruining the look are her hair (bun with side swept bangs?), makeup (not enough) and accessories (yes to earrings, no to bangles and a better clutch).

  21. Flower Power at | | Reply

Hey hey. Why is there so much bad blood about in the comments section? It’s just a matter of opinion and surely everyone’s free to express their’s? I mean, I don’t notice P&P jumping down anyone’s throat and they are the ones who have the right to — it IS their blog. And to JS, you’re going off the point: This is not about whether southern movies have more substance than Bollywood or not, just a comment on the fact that southern heroines, by and large, are of more generous proportions than their B’wood counterparts.

I think she looks really nice..girl-next-door kinda look unlike the other “plastic” miss indias (read aishwarya etc)..only thing is she did not match her outfit for the kind of event she was wearing it to..also minus her tacky tacky clutch and bangles..otherwise a nice little indian girl

  23. amishi at | | Reply

i like the colour of the churidar even though i myself don’t have the guts to wear shiny clothes. she looks nice. she should have worn something more stylish to an event but this outfit is fine for ordinary non celebrity life. i agree with not a sheep that people in india are far too judgemental when other people put on just a few pounds. i’m thin now but i used to be plump before, due to health problems, and when i went to visit india people would tell me to my face that i needed to go on a diet and other rude things. it’s my body and i knew already what i needed to do or not do.

She looks really wide from the hips in the first pic. I mean in compare with her weist.

  25. nosh at | | Reply

I wasn’t saying she HAS junk in the trunk because obviously, it’s a front angle pic. :P I meant to type “that I can’t kind of see”. I’m allowed a typo every now and then :)

Honestly, like I said, I don’t think she looks bad :P If you read my other comments, I’ve never said anyone looks fat. It only alarms me when they look skeletal and then I comment. My goodness. Jumping to conclusions is not attractive on anyone!

Wow, nice to see that my little opinion mattered so much. :D

Preeti — just like amishi elaborated — people in India or first generation Indians have a way of being way too blunt about how they feel you look. Especially when you’re a young female of ‘marriageable’ age. It’s a personal frustration of mine, not due to the way that I look, b/c I’m quite content with the way that I look or have made peace with it. It’s a frustration because I don’t understand how Indian adults (my own family included) can be so blunt about how much weight you’ve put on or lost, why you have PMS-related acne on your face, or why you’re hair looks like it’s dry and disgusting just because it’s more brown than black at times. If I see someone who’s gained weight, I just don’t say anything because BELIEVE ME, he/she knows that weight has been gained! :) I just don’t like it when women feel so inclined and completely open to dissing another woman because she’s a bit heavier or has put on weight. It’s really sad because as women our bodies will change with age, with pregnancies, with stress, and whatever else. Even if the men in the world can’t accept it, can’t we accept it as women?

    @Not a sheep..

Very well said….and I totally get where you are coming from..I have been there…

As far as the dress is conerned…it is good enuf…but for a evening formal event….may be she was told to go traditional..

she is miss india.. LOL. .hehehehehehehe

  29. saya at | | Reply

r u kidding me?! @ flower power…maybe u need to take a look at the new south heroines like asin / trisha
and anyway, the only good looking ones in the north happen to be either bengali or south indian… case(s) in point -ash, rani, kajol, amrita rao, deepika padukone…!

  30. anisha at | | Reply

the dress is sooooooooooo yuuukkk…i wud never ever look at this dress…it seems like it was designed 4-5- yrs back…n it surely looks like saas bahu dresses…

    girls..lighten up!!

  32. saya(the other) at | | Reply

dress is just awight, but the hair, make up are a big NO,NO!

@saya: Ha-Fa. well said! and not to forget the yesteryear heroines of hemamalini, rekha, sridevi, vyjantimala…all gorgeous south indian women! also, the ones who mak(d)e it big in South wear the kushboos and jothikas whose size i dont wanna comment on! :P

    heh..totally forgot abt tht! @ jothika n khushboo..ugh =S

fat? LoL. that is pretty funny.

outfit isnt bad, but the hair, makeup and accessories ruin it.

now, u know i agree with u “not a sheep”, people in india, like the aunties and what not, are soooo blunt! it’s like…”erm, manners ppl??”
like when i went last time, i had really short hair, coz i had a scalp issue, and OMFG they wouldnt leave me alone about it. OR that since im 5ft4, or5, they’ll be like, “oh ur so short” and what pissed me off was that I would be wearing flats, and they would be wearing HUGE heels! but you can’t be rude, coz ur better than them.

lol thank god im skinny and “gori” else i dont know what else i would have to endure!

  36. preeti at | | Reply

@ not a sheep…May be ppl but the thing is that its very subjective.. i mean if i’d comment on her weight, its not necessary that im insecure about my weight… and what is this “comments” section for anywyas??? I think anyone, regardless of their nationality wud blurt out their opinions in the “comments” section in a blog like this… and not everyone wud follow ur idea of not saying anything if theres nothing good to say.. idk about indians being blunt .. yeah being blunt and callling someone fat or sumthing is wrong when its one on one…not when u call “celebs” fat, that too on a website… anyways opinions r like a$$%oles, everyone has one and everything thinks others stink! lol peace!

The dress is not so bad … if you are attending a wedding or some thing like that .. but the hair and make up could have been better
