I’m not a fan of saris that look like doilies. Is it unfashionable to wear non-transparent saris these days?

ah, now that there is colour, AND lose hair, AND nice make-up, AND a nice sari, the critic will revert to “there is soemthing off about this appearance. cant quite put my finger on it.”

o dear critic, time to get creative!

Lol!! I agree. Its amazing how nitpicky people get. “One eyebrow is slightly off, or one eyelash is pointing elsewhere. She looks great but I am too cynical to appreciate it so I will try to find something to crib about.”

in the LBD appearance, someone even criticized her because her hair was flying in the breeze and it looked like ‘horns’.

i am sure here we will have people calling this appearance ‘boring’ even though the lady has given us the broadest range of appearances in the last week. (she has done it all: elaborate gowns, simple black gowns, LBDs, simple sari, glam sari. and updos, straight hair, curls, tight buns, loosely tied hair, and weird hair. nude make-up, sexy red lipstick, day make-up. how much more can she experiment?)

if nothing else, we will criticize her for being “too perfect”. :)

i think ALL her appearance have been awesome so far. and when she was appearing in her personal capacity as an actor, she dumped the gowns and wore a sari. just waiting for the ravaan premiere.

        (oops, did i give away that i am a fan! :) )

Who says it’s a nice sari? It looks like a doily to me.

Now that everything matches your opinion of nice, I guess people with a different opinion should withdraw their opinion or be tagged as critics.

Slightly modifying your line, allow me to predict the fans:

“She is looking perfect. Anyway who does not think so is just jealous/fussy/anti- Aishwarya.”

Contrary to popular belief, we all don’t have a personal vendetta against Aishwarya Rai – we are just not as enamoured with her face (that she was born with) to ignore what we see as mistakes (that she or her stylists make).

well i have been one of “those critics” over the last few days but i think its pretty unfair of you to imply that people here are just looking for faults.

There are many many many people around the world that know nothing about bollywood or india BUT they DO know aish as the most beautiful woman in the world and that she is an indian actress. so when she makes a less than stellar appearance at a huge international event like this, it reflects on all of bollywood and india. whereas if Deepika Padukone wears a sari badly, no one across the world cares/comments about it except the indians who might know who she is. So sure, its a lot of pressure put on Aish but she is basically representing 2 billion people at this event, which is why a lot of us get frustrated when she has a huge beehive on her head or a clearly visible panty line or bad makeup or an unflattering dress. As much as she has been on the international scene, i feel like she should know better, or at least get a stylist that knows better.

Now, about this appearance, LOVE LOVE LOVE!! simple sari, non fussy hair and flawless makeup. Perfect look for the day time event. The color looks good on her.

How bout.. there’s “a thing or two” off about her appearance. But I cant put my finger on it. A little creative, no??? :P lol

    6. Shroff at | | Reply

Well Sir/ Madam, If she claims to be perfect, she better be just that – Perfect. ;-)

Its actually not the people who are harsh, its she who has set for herself those kind of standards. If she does not live up to them ,criticism is BOUND to happen.

      1. olala at | | Reply

        he he
i only meant them as harmless comments guys! :) sorry if i offended anyone.

(or chor ki dadhi me tinka?) oops! there we go again. :)

no really, i did not mean these comments as any personal jibes. but even when a national celebrity is making waves internationally, we are still criticizing her for the way the wind has moved her hair?? that is a little rich! i would think all her appearances this year have been above par. of course, that is just my own opinion.

        peace! :)

Did I miss something? When did Aishwarya or anyone for that matter claim to be perfect?

        1. Sharin at | | Reply

I guess I missed that press release too Carol! Here’s the thing.. you can be butt ugly and wear a killer outfit, and you can be absolutely drop dead gorgeous and rock the same outfit and I guarantee you people will prefer the outfit on the hot chick. It’s human nature, so when people do see Ash in something it might not be the best styling ever but because of how she looks, it’s given the thumbs up. I just feel that on one hand you have people unfairly pump her up because they do like her and do think she is beautiful and on the other hand you have people that unfairly criticize her for that SAME reason.. she’s beautiful so she should look better/dress better/be thinner. Ah the curse of beauty. Something I def think is true.. if Ash had no fans and no one defending her all the time, the haters wouldn’t hate so hard.

I think Ash looks great and I agree with olala.. she’s given us a lot of variety which I love.

wake up and smell the coffee my dear. Obviously she doesnt spell it out but yeah she implies it by all means.

I think she needs a change now – she has used so much pink that it is getting boring. THe saree looks so mundane..nothing like the sabyaschis she has been using lately

  4. S at | | Reply

Another like! Pink always looks good on her and I really like the hair. That apart did I see Mrinal Sen?

I really liked this look, and I am one of the so called “critics” that hasn’t liked her appearances much this year.

She really suits that hair style, loose and breezy!

The saree wasn’t amazing for me as i’m not a huge fan of net, but still very nice.

I have to say this VIKRAM guy dresses very well, abhi should take note. lol

She must have dropped some serious cash on those earrings to warrant her wearing them so much. Not that I mind, I think they’re a fantastic pair!

    1. padma at | | Reply

agree, a bit too old lady for my taste. But what the hell, they look Expensive!! that must be the idea.

Ash looks adorable…i loved this look. The saree looked really nice and the colour looked great on her. And i totally loved her hair. Sooo pretty!!

    She looks absolutely stunning.

  10. padma at | | Reply

she looks nice, nice hair, make up, and saree too. I am slowly warming to the idea that she has a natural sweet smile which she seldom shows. Also warming up to the idea that they are cute and loving couple :) I mean they really are. Sweet!

I just hate that so much importance is being given to just Aishwarya and Abhishek here. Vikram is doing the same role in tamil and has a sizeable role in hindi too. Why is he being sidelined all the time?
He is a big star down south and such treatment, I think, is disrespectful.

Her saree is Ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Loved the hair though. Makes her look younger.

Is this a Chiaroscuro lace sari? A bit too pink for me but like the sari on her. And is that Mrinal Sen? He was supposed to go to Cannes for the screening of “Khandhar”.

  13. suha at | | Reply

please don’t forget to post the photos of this event.. Rai in the pink sari..

And also what sari is suhashini wearing at the outrage premiere? Post that too..
