Ms. Rahman was felicitated with the Dadasaheb Phalke award at the 69th National Film Award ceremony in Delhi today and was seen in a cream and gold handloom sari paired with a layered green stone necklace and matching earrings.

Waheeda Rahman is living proof of the fact that you don’t need fancy HMU or curated “looks” to make heads turn.
She just does it SO effortlessly!
With current stars everything seems so calculated for PR and perception – choice of saree, designer, HMU and then you have this yesteryear star who is just so elegant in her simplicity. She carries it with such grace
What stands out here is that she is clearly wearing the outfit, and not the other way round. She shines bright, and the saree only adds to her personality. In case of a lot of celebs, it is fairly obvious that the outfit is “wearing” them, or rather, their only purpose to be out and about is to show off the clothing/accessories—it isn’t their natural style or organic extension of their personality.
Not that this is somehow “less than” because many celebrities are, in fact, modeling the clothing, etc. What they wear isn’t representative of their style, necessarily. In fact, the general public may never know what their personal style is. The best models are able to own their outfit entirely but the others, not so well.
