In Sabyasachi
At a recently held Awards, spotted Ms. Balan in a Sabyasachi sari looking quite lovely. Am not sure what I like more, the sari or those jhumkis. 🙂

Lucky woman,she owns almost all Sabya sarees….Beautiful Saree,Beautiful Vidya…Jhumki’s tooo…look at the bangles,bengali style…
all sabya sarees are just black and beige??
same old, same old. Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
so basically, balan can do no wrong on this blog. stuck in a rut like priyanka chopra? cant wear a sari properly? noooo matter.
Agree, i don’t see why Ms Balan never gets the card for being stuck in a rut. So what is if it’s Sabya creation.
Really, Vidhya doesnt get the card??? Vidhya is one of the unfortunate one to be bashed all the time. Go and check out the comments ojn her older posts.
hardly…
ms balan has got her fair share of bad blogging here – she’s been called form aunty to behenji … to everything
but really… after so long… its obvious she’s going to stay as it is… might as well enjoy the sarees on show.
YAWN! Same ole Sabya, 3/4th sleeve grandma blouse, jhumki, bad draping, messy hair. You have seen one appearance of her, you’ve seen it all.
exactly!! i was just thinking that i have seen her wearing this saree before!
Messy draping………lovely saree
She looks pretty ! Radiant. I like her for the decent draping and no boob show.
But have seen better Sabya sarees.
Yes she looks lovely.
Yes, it’s starting to get BORING. Maybe bring out one of those Anarkalis Vidya?
I think she looks absolutely lovely…any idea where you can get those kind of big jhumkis, especially the kind she wears in this one?
borring…. lovely sari though… but why does she tie them so low….
This is the weirdest ‘rut’ ever….one style and one designer only???? How can she be stuck soooooo badly with the Sabya stuff. As much as we all love his designs, she cant bore us to death by wearing them ALL the time.
she is so scared to experiment now..even with her hair on one side and bare neck..someone needs to give her the confidence so that she does not look like she is in a costume all the time.
In defence of Ms Balan, consider these points: 1. She’s done her fair share of experimenting and got major flak for doing so. 2. Her very Indian face and figure do limit the clothes that look good on her. 3. She’s not a great fashionista by her own admission: I think we can safely say clothes don’t interest her as much as they do the posters here 4. Ergo she falls back on the tried-and-tested — and, if you take each appearance individually, she does look good. Cut her some slack, peeps!
I like that summary =)
Agree with kasthuri. Good Summary.
I am a little confused. Are Sabya saris really heavy and stiff and hard to drape? Cause they might be interesting, but she always drapes them so badly, totally ruining the look.
Anyways, deja vu. deja vu. deja vu for the next looks to come too.
Vidya is a bit boring and too “old-ladyish” for her young age and I am soooooooo over Sabyasachi!
Get a make-over VB!!
Style and Substance!
Beauty and Brains!
Congrats Vidya on the award. Well deserved.
Who cares what she wears, she much more to flaunt than just her dresses!
Lovely saree. Vidya, looks nice, nothing new though. Don’t care – rather see her like this than in whatever she was wearing at the Shabana Azmi party. Congrats on the award!
Want a close-up of the Jhumkas, which look great.
Lovely Lovely Saree. Boring Boring Vidya!
she looks so radiant! and so what if she wears the same style everytime, if it’s working for her, then why not? there is such a thing as not really caring about others thoughts on what one chooses to wear. she doesn’t dress to please us =)
Vidya, some tips for tying such sarees, have someone else drape the pleats and then put a safety pin on the bottom and the middle portion for 10-15 minutes to help them settle or press a heavy iron the pleats. will settle them down.. pallu is very easy to drape.. I don’t know why or how u can’t or won’t do that properly. I once read a tip from Kiron Kher on tying stiff silk or other fabric sarees.. 2 poeple hold the saree at each end and twist it as if wringing water.. will make it a bit more pliable.. also a steam press will help… Please, PLEASE follow these tips, you are ruining some pretty sarees by draping them so… badly
great tips…….will definitely try the safety pin tip
Not my fav saree but love the jhumkis. Vidhya looks good though.
Awww…thats a beautiful saree. I never get tired seeing the same type of Sabyasachi sarees again and again…these are timeless pieces to me.
