Wearing a Satya Paul sari, Vidya helped unveil a book today in Mumbai. I don’t mind a belt on a sari but only when it is needed, like when you are wearing a long top and have to define the waist. In her case, considering the short blouse, I don’t think it was needed.
Having said that though, I still thought she looked nice here.

Belt is an unnecessary addition, plus sitting too high, just under the bust, than on the waist.
I like the idea but the execution left me underwhelmed. May be a wider belt? I don’t think blouse length is the issue here and I can’t put a finger on what exactly is
True. The belt should have been interesting. Maybe an obi belt or sthg with a knot. This just seems unnecessary.

The good spree ends here… Sorry, the belt on a traditionally draped silhouette looks plain silly!

She looks overstyled and that pose of the hands on the hips is making it look very awkward
I think the belt adds something interesting to what would otherwise be a typical flight attendant look.

She is holding the book the right side up and that is all that is favorable about the look!
a natural like Vidya does NOT need the unnecessary hands on hip pose, the ridiculously strangulating belt or such white excessive make up, so why o why did this mighty stylist fail so miserably with this one???
the belt was totally unnecessary, doesn’t add anything to the look but does make it look silly. that said, it’s good to see she has a waist 🙂
Belt is awful. Looks like her husband’s belt as an after thought. Its a man belt for one and also sits very awkwardly under the bust and Vidya looks beautiful always (even when she wears awkward clothes) but she cannot carry this or any kind of belt on a saree. that style is for people with tiny waist and I don’t know how to put it more politely.

Belt is where her blouse ends, that’s way up her waist… so silly. Ruined this lovely sari. The saris she wears in MIssion Mangal movie are so nice
Belt was completely unnecessary…makes the whole get up look funny!
Saving grace is that the book is held the right side up.. else its a mediocre saree with harsh hair and white wash makeup. The belt, lesser said the better
This kind of saree needed a nice flowing drape with hair left loose, sleeveless blouse and pencil heels….
She wanted to make it evident.
She has a waist, hence the nonsensical belt.
She read on a fashion blog “For cylinder shaped bodies, wear a belt on the most narrow part of your abdomen” that is why it is where it is”.
