Ditto!

At a recent event, spotted the same James Ferreira dress on jewelry designer Vijeta R that we had previously seen on Sonam.

On whom do you like this dress better? We’ll have to give this one to Vijeta, much prefer the dress in it’s intended form versus how Sonam wore it with the folds turned out. Having said that, we much prefer Sonam’s choice of jewelry over Vijeta’s.

Sonam In Filmfare: Decoded

Styled by Jayati Bose, Sonam features in an editorial in this month’s Filmfare magazine. The fashion ante has really been upped by Filmfare. We like!

In Twos

Being quite used to Ms. Kapoor hitting home runs, neither of these looks brought it home. The blue/grown dress looked lovely waist up but the drape was just so unflattering and unsightly. The sheath dress was fabulous but for the scarf. The scarf along with the do had us thinking stewardess!

Not Quite.

P.S: The clutch is by Anusha Lalwani.

Update: The white dress is French Connection. Thanks “Glitter Girl!”

Sari Style

Wearing what looked like a sari by Masaba, Sonam Kapoor was photographed at a recent wedding reception. Though not a fan of crushed silks, Sonam had us at the color.

Update: It’s not a Masaba.

GenNext Show: LFW Summer/Resort 2011

Focus shifted back to the Grand Hyatt Mumbai and the day started off with the GenNext show showcasing six labels. I’ll admit I wasn’t blown away by the presentations but keep in mind that most of the designers are just starting out and so it is the vision that counts.

Blank Spot By Shivaji Dutta
Using mustard as a base color and leather detailing to provide geometric shapes, Shivaji Dutta with his label Blank Spot wanted to remind us not to waste. There were skirts, shirts and even trousers given a second life as dresses. While the idea in itself was great, the big drawback of the collection was the base color. It wasn’t appealing.

DeuxA by Anna-Liza Ganguly and Anita Walia
Anna Liza and Anita maybe new to LFW but the duo who operate in Paris are not quite newcomers. Their label “deuxA” (get it?) presented “Samo Was Here” that used prints by American artist Jean Michel Basquiat as a backdrop accentuated by power shoulders. The beige vest and the final maxi paired with the deuxA logo neckpiece were the two that stood out.
