The Long And Short Of It

It was a Malini Ramani Resort 2010 draped gown for Rhea at a recent calendar launch… And, spotted Tejaswini too in a draped dress of similar colors at a different event… You know what that brings us to, don’t you? Whose look do you like more?

In Malini Ramani

Oh. Em. Gee. I cannot believe my eyes that this is the same Divya ,who almost always gives us a WTheyyy look, looking quite good. Not a big fan of the chunky match-ey sandals but this is still such a huuge upgrade. There is hope.

In Malini Ramani

Mehr and Farah Khan Ali could be twins being that they almost always are spotted in black. 😛

Thankfully at the HDIL Couture Week opening bash, Mehr gave us color and it was lovely. The Malini Ramani green kaftan looked gorgeous on her. Only wished she had styled her hair better and worn some gold earrings to complete the look. Baby steps is better than no steps, right?

In Malini Ramani And Masaba

Spotted at the Fashion Week, Bina Ramani taking in her daughter’s (Malini Ramani) show and Neena Gupta at her daughter’s (Masaba). And both lovely ladies wore their daughters’ designs to show their support. Awww. Aren’t moms the best?! 🙂

LFW Winter Festive 2010: Malini Ramani

Closing out LFW was Malini Ramani. Like her last collection, the Gypsy collection inspired by Lakme’s winter color palette was also divided into four themes.

Mirror and shell embroidery on black and tie and dye fabric dominated the first segment, Mystery. Bliss consisted of minis, maxis covered in colorful prints that from far looked like intricate embroidery. Cosmic went more tribal in nature featuring feathers, shell and coin embellishments. The last one, Nirvana, was presented by the Lakme models Lisa, Amrit, Indrani and Shraddha who wore black and red creations that were heavy on shell, mirror and tassel work.

The designer didn’t foray far from her usual offerings of maxis, full-sleeve dresses, sarongs but the fact that Malini sticks to her signature design aesthetic without letting it go stale always stands out. Love the infusion of her inspiration (the world) into this line.
