On The Sets

While on the sets of her television show, Madhuri was photographed in lehengas on two separate occasions. Between the printed Manish Malhotra and the yellow floral Prints By Radhika lehenga, it was easy to pick the former as the favorite of the two. The floral lehenga look just felt too busy and Madhuri looked rather overwhelmed in it.

In Anju Modi

While taping her television show, Madhuri was photographed in an Anju Modi sari on the sets. I understand that this look was a nod to “retro” (per stylist/designer), bit it wasn’t one I was a big fan of.

Considering everything veers to OTT when it comes to TV shows styling, in that context perhaps the look works. And Madhuri makes the look work but she shouldn’t have to!

There are so many other ways to do a retro-inspired look, and this wasn’t it. Between a polka-dot sari and a puffy-sleeved blouse, you already have a winning combination. Why then the blouse with awkwardly placed embroidery/embellishment, the belt, the shoes. Those shoes! Why does the TV aesthetic always have to be so loud (and this is not in reference to this look in particular but all television shows’ styling in general)?

Doing Denim

Not too long ago, both Madhuri and Shraddha were spotted teaming their denims with orange-toned tops. Wasn’t a big fan of either pair of denims but had Madhuri swapped her black ballet flats with lighter, neutral-colored ones she would have fared so much better!

Sari Style

Madhuri was back on the set of Jhalak Dikhla Ja to tape another episode wearing a pink sari. She looked lovely!

A Separate(s) Story

Both Madhuri and Sonali sported cape-style shoulder details with the former sporting an exaggerated sleeve and the latter, full-length fringe off the shoulders. It’s a different look for both of them and makes for an interesting change of pace.

I think both Madhuri and Sonali would’ve benefited from sleeker hair dos, especially Sonali. That said though, they make their looks work for them.

If I had to pick one, it’d have to be Madhuri’s look in Manish Malhotra (even though I deeply dislike that style of sleeve, personally speaking). Sonali’s Falguni Shane Peacock looked sharp but given the fringe detail and the corset, did the pants really need that slit/flap opening? The suit came off looking over-designed, but to Sonali’s credit, and at the risk of sounding repetitive- she still made it work for her.
