Time for another editrix to make her debut on HHC! 😉
Two recent events saw Ms. Assomull (editor, Harper’s Bazaar India) pair her dresses with some serious jewelry.
At the Mac bash, she paired her teal dress with a choker, some green bangles, a Dior minaudiere and nude heels. At the more recent Jimmy Choo and Harper’s event, it was an Ibella (by Ramona Narang) dress that she paired with a choker, some lilac bangles, a Jimmy Choo clutch and nude heels. Two times a pattern does not make, but what do y’all think of these appearances? Have a favorite?

Both the looks stink and I think u ladies r scared to critique her 😀
My thoughts exactly!! P&P c’mon we love you coz you call it like it is.. Pls don’t get all Fox News on us and start to cower under pressure. Everything about this look is wrong! Editors do a great job but we are only critiquing fashion sensibilities … so why isn’t this a capital WTH?
on side note..Ramona should stop desinging..only people who are wearing her designs are her friends/relatives.. who i guess are obligated to wear them atleast once…
There’s way too much jewellery going on with both looks. It would’ve worked if she was doing an indian look with a saree but not with a dress..i am all for mixing the east with the west but she is not doing it too well. I would’ve kept the necklace on with the lilac dress and the earrings with the teal one..if she wanted to wear bangles, i’d have gone with an antiqe gold cuff with both looks
i don’t like either of the looks.. i get what she’s trying to do here but she fails miserably.. the dresses are downright pathetic and the jewellery at total mismatch… and please OH please ban the slip-on’s…
Atrocious! Carine Roitfield & Anna Wintour have taken the playing field to a whole other level. Harper’s claims to be the “fashion resource for women who are the first to buy the best, from casual to couture”. How is it that the editor in a country with a projected $10.41B/Rs 42918 crore in apparel spending is not held to higher standards? Surely she unlimited access to the hottest and best out there!
Totally agree with you.
Plus have you noticed that none of the Indian editors are ever fashionable and they can never fathom what does n what doesn’t work for their body type.
whoa..for an editrix, she has a pretty uninnovative style. Both times, she has the same bangles and choker..wonder why she didnt change it up? Also a choker with those dresses????
shes an editor?? she needs to edit a lot out of those loooks.
hahahahaha….
hahahaha… =)
I am usually for fusion of east and west. But This is clear WTHeyy ! She should dress for her body type.
Whoa this is unbelievably tacky…. those bangles, choker it like a bad fusion of east and west.
She usually dresses well, but so much bling isn’t working with the dresses. Especially the teal one.
She obviously likes those Choos– Love the Green.
Yay to fashion Insiders on HHC! I love the colours and how its a mix of easy chic dressed up with jewels! looking forward to seeing more of her here!
You’re kidding right?
u r insane… hate both her looks… god bless harpers!!
She does look good!
i think so too. the dresses are fine. it’s the wrong accessories and shoes that are messing up the look. her magazine is quite good so i’m sure she knows a thing or two about fasion.
oops, i meant fashion and not fasion. it’s too early in the morning for me 🙁
All that jewelry is killing both the looks…looks like HB’s stylist is on vacation.
Had she skipped the choker, dark nails, bangles and gone for some diamonds studs, the lavender might have worked and might I add some spandex as well….
as far as teal goes, I feel she returned home from a desi wedding, changed her saree but forgot to take off the make up n jewelry,,,,, as lovely is the color and even though the fall is better on her it just ruins my appetite to see such gaudy make and overload of just about everything she could lay her hands on, so hard to tell, sans jewelry and some dewy make might have made her appear more appropriate :-S
I like the fact that she mixes things up…a simple dress with a piece of intricate Indian history. The shorter dress is my fav, but she might have done without the earrings…? Anyway, the overall effect is interesting and refreshing, I say.
Love the jimmy choo bag & shoe combo!
The teal dress is a Raakesh Agarvwal..
I neither like the dresses nor the jewelry.. and glass bangles with THOSE dresses… uh huh
Wow. One would think that the editor of a large fashion magazine would possess a certain level of taste herself, which Sujata Assomull here clearly lacks. The outfits, the jewelry, it’s all terribly tacky. I can’t believe what I’m seeing!
And even though it IS India Bazaar, and lets face it, many Indian fashion magazines are often not as good as their British or sometimes American, counterparts , but they really are improving month by month!
So I would think that they would have someone who KNOWS their fashion to be at the head of the table! And yes, fashion is very subjective, but this is just very wrong.
Is she trying to make that choker and monocolour bangle combo happen? This is just ghastly, especially the choker with the teal dress.
Dislike them both. The clothes seem ill fitting.
The look just does not work.
As a fashin Editor, one needs to take a critical look at oneself, before catching the lensman’s eye. Ms Assommul must have cringed when she saw these images in HHC!
I dont’t know which look is worse. Tough call!
ugh! and this woman is the editor of a fashion magazine. at least dress according to your body type not to mention age group.
WTHeyyy all the way..
Both the looks seem extremely confusing…the bangles were not needed
P&P I think you’re just playing with us here, aren’t you? Come tomorrow and you will dump it in the WTHeyy folder. Right? RIGHT?
Ohhhh wait, this is PATHETIC. First it was Priya Tanna with her sloppy dresses and now Ms Assomull wearing these downright tacky dresses, stripper heels and random glass bangles.
What can we expect from these Indian editions of Vogue and Harpers if their editors dress like this?
same goes for bandana tewari, fashion editor of vogue.
I think Bandana rocks it. She has personality and like it or not, you can’t ignore her!
Rather gory way of mixing east n west…. digging the choker (only) on the left…
Wow. Editor of a fash mag? April 1st already? If Ms. Assomull thought this was being “edgy” or “fusion”, it fails very badly, in my opinion. She’d have been better off just going ethnic all the way, rather than looking like she just nipped into the ladies’ on her way back from a wedding and changed into random (most unflattering) dresses. She tweeted about David Abraham et al- thought she’d do them the honour of actually wearing their stuff!
Also (rant) I’ve asked before, I’ll ask again: is it de rigeur to always have to dress western at such events? I’d love to see an Indian editor don a really beautiful handloom saree once in a while! Not good for all the potential advertisers though, I know, to say Hey, I just stepped out in a 3000 rupee outfit rather than your 30,000 one! (end rant)
Also 🙂 Love how you’ve dodged the “actually give an opinion on someone influential” bullet so nicely by giving your readers the job of stating the obvious. Brava! 🙂
what the heck was that? awful.
i think she looks alright.. maybe a little less jewellery!
Both these looks are horrendous. How is she the editor of a fashion magazine with such atrocious personal taste? There’s just no redeeming factor here.
Oh HELLS no. But do I love a nice teal, but not in this fabric. I’m not even going to comment about the jewelry.
Awful! She looks so dowdy! She also needs to learn to dress for her shape. The lilac dress hugs her in all the wrong places. The jewelry she paired with that teal dress is atrocious.
HOW is she the editor of Harper’s Bazaar India???
